This definitely isn't the final layout but it is close. I didn't cut the corners yet but I will try orange for them first. I'm not sure whether light or dark is the right choice for the corners. The border pieces will lose 1/4" in width when sewn onto the quilt and another 1/4+" will be covered by the binding so they will finish at 4" wide. This will now finish around 48" x 64". The backing will also be Kaffe stripe fabric. I have 2 two yard pieces and one of them will probably be the binding too.
The elections are over so finally there should be some new shows on TV.
I like that border!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely quilt in process you are putting together. Such a warm, inviting one! Looking forward to seeing it all together...
ReplyDeleteDarkness falls so early now--4:30-ish and the sun has set...time to pull out more quilts for warmth...hugs, Julierose
This is turning into a really wonderful quilt top - your artistry definitely shows!!
ReplyDeleteWanda, your blog and quilt creations always inspire me! Thank you so much. I love your striped project.
ReplyDeleteI like the border thoughts that are going on. I doubt that I would have gone in that direction of thinking. I'd probably have been a stick-in-the-mud and gone with a single fabric for the border. I'm working on breaking some of those design "should be" and "must do" old ways on what a quilt "should" be.
ReplyDeleteYes the election is over, but now begins the post-election gloating, scowling in frustration, analysis of what went right/wrong, lawsuits and challenges, and of course - races for 2024 start today with that coverage. It's really sad that I say at least the political ads gave a break from the Medicare Advantage ads every 5 minutes that make older women look like confused and/or cranky idiots.
I'm looking forward to some new shows too.
Gail, get out of my head lol!!! All so true.
DeleteLove what you created for the border, i know those corner pieces you decide on, will set it off with pizazz. Another ‘exuberant’ quilt from your studios.

PS. 4 new inches of snow this morning and still coming down, predictions of up to 8” for the valley today. Our mountains are already at 200 and 300 % of normal for November.
Love how you used the stripes. I have a bundle of Kaffe stripes and solids and a plan but never seem to get to the actual cutting and sewing.
ReplyDeleteI've been doing the same thing today . . . laying out and now trying to see what I have in my stash for a boarder. I really don't want to purchase more fabric; I want to start uses what I have :)
ReplyDeleteLove what you did with these stripes
ReplyDeleteI love what you did with the Kaffee stripes! This is something I never thought to use for a whole quilt. Ingenious!
