All seams sewn...............

After an hour and a half of power outage late in the day yesterday (94 degrees), I had to wait until it cooled off again in the studio to finish sewing the quarter square triangle quilt top.  The studio has 2 windows facing west and it is the farthest distance from the window A/C units.  I have a fan blowing the cool air in that direction. The good news is I did get all of the seams sewn and I will press it today.

Monday I showed the pieces for this quilt with each fabric as a group and now I have mixed the fabrics around for a much better layout.  I still need to make 12 more squares to finish the layout.  I think the butterfly print I showed yesterday will be the backing for this small (30" x 36") baby quilt.

It was still 85 degrees at 11 p.m. yesterday and today's high is supposed to be 86 with lower humidity.  Next week is our cool down and I can't wait.

  1. Sure sounds hot there! We woke up to a cool rainy day today.
I love that zig-zag baby quilt--so bright and cheerful with just enough light/white fabrics...nice work --try and stay cool today!!

  2. it always takes such awhile to cool things off after even a short power outage - the heat is spreading further and further north every year it seems

  3. Power outages are the worst! It is hard to find something to so sometimes while you wait and hope the power comes back on soon. At least you got the top sewn together. I like the way you mixed up the HSTs for the zig zag top. I had a power outage at the house about two weeks ago, but I was lucky because the weather was really nice.

  4. So glad your power came back on earlier instead of later. I love the new iteration of the HST layout.

  5. Hope you don't have too many power interruptions. I am in CA, and the ever present fire danger season is in full swing, in addition to it being 104ยบ yesterday. (Near SF) From one extreme to the other! Your yellow creation is SO happy, and would be lovely for anyone, I love something with bright color because it's less likely to be left behind--it's what I do for all travel pillowcases!

  6. Oh Wanda ~ I really like the mixed zig-zag so much better now. The same fabric zigzag was nice but this mixed has more ambiance and is more ‘showy’.

We are on our second day of sun and warm temperatures. I suppose we’ll be complaining by the end of the week but it sure feels good right now. Has not been this warm since last summer.

  8. We had a lot of power outages around here yesterday too but, luckily, we weren't one of the causalities. There were some flickers but that's it. You are going to have 2 cute finishes for June!
