Thank you!............

This was the view out my dining room window yesterday afternoon.

Thank you everyone for the happy birthday wishes yesterday.  I was going to answer all of them but then decided a group thank you would have to do.

My granddaughter brought me lunch from one of my favorite places and a friend brought me a decadent dessert last evening.

I didn't sew a stitch.  I gave my daughter-in-law 2 of my cactus plants so I'm down to 12 plants of the Thanksgiving (pointed ends) variety, 2 spring or Easter cactus and one pot of Christmas Cactus (rounded ends) that has 5 pieces in it.  A friend in CO sent me the starts and I planted them all together.  I have buds on several plants now and one might be blooming by next week.  I repotted my champagne color cactus which broke into 3 pieces and one of them has buds already.  I potted 2 others that were small pieces left from larger plants in a pot together.  One is pale pink and the other is red.  I used a combination of compost from a friend, Miracle Gro potting soil and Perlite so I hope that encourages growth.

  4. Hi Wanda - I forgot to read your blog yesterday - Happy birthday! I hope I am as energetic as you are if and when I'm 81! You don't look 81 - you could easily pass for at least 10 years younger.

  5. Happy Belated Birthday! Cardinals were my mother's favorite bird and I miss seeing them. We don't have them here in Colorado. My Thanksgiving Cactus is in full bloom and just beautiful.

  6. Sounds like you will have a gorgeous cactus display... I am still on the lookout here for a champagne color--so far only reds...I do have one pink/white bloom on all the newly potted cuttings I sent away for on etsy--they are doing well..
Hugs for many more wonderful birthdays, Wanda;)))

  7. Happy belated 81st birthday! I love the picture of the cardinal. It would
make a nice photo to hang on the wall. I have 3 pots of Christmas cactus. One pot has 2 plants in it that have never bloomed but now has 1 bud on it. Another pot has 4 plants in it and my favorite of the 3 blooms all year round.
All my plants are pink or dark pink. Your quilt is coming along nicely.

  12. Happy belated birthday Wanda! I hope it was a wonderful day and that your new year is full of all good things!

I'm so envious. We don't have cardinals here. I would love to see a bird that red every now and again.
