Slowly.....a few more blocks..........

I made a few more blocks and turned the blocks sideways on the design wall.  This is the view from my sewing machine cabinet.

I turned the photo 90 degrees and cropped it to show it how it will look.  I need to add one more row at the top, 3 more blocks with a square center and 7 (and a part) more 36 patch blocks to go.  The bottom three 36 patch blocks aren't sewn together yet.

I'm wondering if my 36 patch blocks are too colorful.

This is the next fabric to cut for a block.

A little snow on the leaves a couple times yesterday was the extent of the accumulation.  More expected.......

  1. Perhaps this one will become two separate quilts? It is very colorful with both blocks together--but such pretty colors. Decisions, decisions, right?
I am on rest again this weekend--sciatica has decided to make a comeback of sorts--not as bad, but still nagging me!!
I hope your weekend will be a good one--no snow here yet--teeming rains yesterday..hugs, Julierose

  2. Hmmm...those squares might be taking over from the stripes. Certainly worth a look with those removed from the design wall and the striped blocks set side by side. That's why we work on design walls, isn't it? Love the gridlock pattern!

  3. The strip blocks and the squares blocks are both beautiful, but I am not sure they are playing nice with each other. Snowing here right now for the first time. I am usually a day behind you. I have lily bulbs to plant yet.

  4. I really like the look of the two blocks in the quilt - I didn't think the 36 patch blocks looks too bright on my computer anyhow I know how hard it is to get the lighting right sometimes but I love it

  5. I really like the way your Gridlock is coming together. I pulled my books for inspiration but it seems it is a little more complex than imagined at first sight. But, if you are like me, that is some of the fun - auditioning fabrics til you get it just right! Right now I have some quilts to get finished before this year ends. Happy Stitching!

  6. Interesting to see it in both orientations - you are making SO much progress. I'm plugging away on a variety of things with the Gridlock blocks lurking in the background. Soon, very soon (I hope).

  8. Well, to honest, I have been wondering what neutral, monochromatic 36 square blocks would look like...to let the striped blocks really pop!

  10. I love these blocks and am enjoying your play with the gorgeous fabrics. You already have quite a bit of neutral fabrics in the 36 square blocks. I would continue as you are. I love these combinations you have created and wouldn’t change a thing.
