I started out yesterday sending a remote pacemaker reading to the dr. office. I had an errand downtown next and then I baked a double batch of Kringlas. I have posted the recipe previously and this is the recipe with buttermilk in it. I gave my granddaughter suggestions of what I would bake and she chose this one.
Her second choice was frosted creams so I baked them too. This box full is going into my freezer. It is a large recipe so there is enough for all of us.
This is the view from my sewing chair. I have used almost every inch of the double design wall side to side so there wasn't room to put the last row of border on the right edge. I didn't sew any more, they are just loose on the design wall. I also have pieces on top of one of the 36 patch blocks covering up the row I'm going to take out.
Today is supposed to be up the 50s again so I hope to get outside and mow over some more leaves. Chopped leaves are a great nutrient for the grass.
I love the quilt. I didn't think I was going to when the first blocks appeared in your blog but it has really turned out beautifully.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to see the links to the recipes for the kringlas and frosted creams. I haven't made frosted creams in years but now I'm craving them.
I wish you and all your family a very happy Thanksgiving.
I have a recipe something like the frosted creams but haven't made them in such a long time, sometimes I think I forget what recipes I have - a whole shelf of cookbooks and just don't bake that much anymore with it being mainly the two of us - I should pick one recipe a week to cut down that could serve two better without a lot of it left over
ReplyDeleteJust a beautiful quilt in the making--
ReplyDeleteYour baking sounds wonderful...
Hugs, Julierose
Looks like it may be January before I get to focus on my Gridlock blocks - I am so enjoying yours in the meantime. Very low key Thanksgiving here - not a lot of baking or prep but SO much gratitude.
ReplyDeleteWow, 50s. It is only low 40s today here and very overcast. Wonderful baked goods. Made the GF almond flour pumpkin pie and it looks terrific- hope it tastes the same way.
ReplyDeleteKringlas, Frosted Creams, are as delicious as they look, I’m sure of that. What a treat for their Thanksgiving desert, If they are not gone by then.
ReplyDeleteFun to see your Gridlock on its side with the border squares, the hours you have put into this one shows.

Happy Thanksgiving ~
The treats look delicious!
ReplyDeleteI really love MOST of your quilts and I know that everyone praises you with their comments. However, the quilt that was featured today - the one with the 16 patch and the square in the square just doesn't 'speak' to me as your others do to me. It seems jumbled and not true to my (and probably only my) sense of style.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving (and weekend) to you and your readers...
ReplyDeleteLike DianeN above, I had my doubts when you were beginning this quilt. Silly me! As it's grown, it's also grown on me, and now I'm just struck with its life and beauty. Can't wait to see it finished...
Just scrolled down and seen this post which I missed1 Interested to read about the remote reading for the pacemaker, when I have my new one next year I shall be able to do just that myself which will be great!
