I couldn't seem to concentrate on any one project yesterday. I baked chocolate chip cookies and used almost all of my flour so I ended up grocery shopping and stocking up on things I will need in the next 2 months.
Last night I played with the squares made from quarter square triangles. I mentioned a couple days ago that I might save them to use as spacers in a Kaffe orphan block quilt. I had to check them out in a couple layouts though.
Ohio Star is always a nice block and would use up a big stack of 4.5" squares that I already cut a few years ago. Enough playing, now I have to get busy.
On Sunday a huge storm rolled through and the final rain was on Monday morning. I had 4.65" of rain in my rain gauge. That is more rain than we had in August and September combined. We were at an 8" deficit for the year so this rain should have brought that number down some.
Wow, that's a lot of rain in one event. But so needed. We had rain yesterday, but I forgot to check the rain gauge and it's supposed to rain all day today with over 1" expected here and more to our south and east.

Smart to stock up on baking supplies. I've heard some stores are already running low. Glad you finally got some rain. We had enough rain yesterday that the contractors covered their gear and left early. Our temps have been such that I can break out the long-sleeved shirts!
ReplyDeleteThe blocks are pretty, but turning into Ohio Star blocks really takes them up to the next level! That is a lot of rain in a short amount of time! Here the rain is falling, but in small amounts - .1 to .3 inches a day. I was surprised when I dug the holes for the cora bells how the moisture has not sunk down very deep.
ReplyDeletethe blocks are all so pretty. you had a lot of rain and we barely got all that much once again - another chance for rain on Wednesday for us
ReplyDeleteLovely 1/4 sq. triangles...such rich colors!
ReplyDeleteWe are in the midst of teeming rain here and pretty high winds...
so far an inch and one quarter's worth...
hugs, from under my umbrella, Julierose
Ohio Star has a lovely golden glow, it really is one to pursue.
ReplyDeleteAnd Chicago made the national news with all your rain. “You lucky ducks” ~ us mountain folks are always begging for rain. We got a mist yesterday and we thought that was really something.

I've been a little unfocused myself lately but you have used your wandering time much more productively than me!
ReplyDeleteYou have such a gift for mixing different print fabrics together. I'm such a coward and always fall back into using blenders.
ReplyDeleteI thought our .6” rain was a lot! That IS a lot of rain. Nice looking blocks.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blocks - and making choc chip cookies - Yum!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you keep playing with he Ohio Star blocks!! Love this.
