Getting close................

 I have 160 triangle squares sewn now.  I had planned 180 for a 12 x 15 layout but I have enough dark triangles cut for 192, a 12 x 16 layout.  They are 5" finished squares.

The backyard baskets are really filling in with blooms.

This is a closeup of the left basket

and

a closeup of the right basket.  One group of Petunias had no blooms when I bought it and it just said mixed on the handle.  The other group I bought were the royal purple.

The Dianthus which is considered an annual has come up for the 4th or 5th year in a row.

The tall Garden Heliotrope is in bloom and it has a scent like lilacs.  Between the lilacs, Heliotrope and Peonies, the backyard is smelling pretty fragrant.

  4. It is amazing how your yard has filled in! I am seriously hoping for some rain as everything I planted is so thirsty. I try and water, but it is not the same as a soaking rain.

  5. the gardens and baskets are looking really good - here all we get is more rain!! some things will grow and others will drown in it.

  6. Our peonies aren't blooming yet, but the German bearded iris have started. And the Miss Kim lilac is blooming. It's scent is so strong it's almost overpowering. Waiting to see what the HSTs turn into.

  7. You have gotten a lot of the HSTs sewn together! The flowers look so pretty! So much is blooming already. Last night I noticed that some of my Shasta Daisies have buds. My California poppies are blooming now and look so pretty. I forgot to post the picture today of them. I have one lavender plant that is ready to bloom too. That always smells so good and the bees love them.

  8. Loving all the flowers! As usual, May is going by much too quickly, and I have yet to get/plant my annuals. This afternoon, I may take myself to the nursery and decide what/how much I want to plant.

And — since you already have enough dark HSTs for a larger layout, I can only say "go big or go home!" Think of it as facilitating your stash reduction, if that helps. <3

  10. Your petunias are so pretty! And I love it when the flowers are blooming and scenting the yard. That is the ONLY reason I miss our magnolia tree - those flowers smelled divine.

  11. Your triangles are as bright as the brilliance of your petunias are today. . . . . Good progress on our triangle blocks .

  12. I love this time in the garden with new growth and surprises. I have Dianthus that returns also. I thought it was a biannual, but with vigor! I'm wondering what the triangles will become with so many options for layout.
