I was trying to get my Super Woman badge yesterday. I got up 2 hours earlier than normal, mowed the front yard grass in the morning, planted my porch pots after lunch, mowed the back yard late in the afternoon and dug out weeds where I will be planting tomatoes. Last night for TV time I pieced these 9 patches.
Here is the design wall with the 2 night's piecing. If I make more 9 patches with the current supply of 2.5" squares they won't be matched 4 and 5 pieces like all of this first batch of 20 blocks. I would be matching color as best I can while using several different prints.
I painted all of my old pots a few years ago and they are looking pretty shabby so I bought 3 new black planters this year. They all have the watering tray in the bottom of the pot. I went with a bright mixture of flowers this year and planted all three alike. I will plant Coleus in some more pots to have over by my garage.
In the back garden the Dianthus are in full bloom with lots of buds. Everything is covered in Redbud petals.
The lavender Dianthus is so delicate.
The Hardy Geranium in the back is at the end of its blooming time. This is the plant that got smashed by the hail that hit it in 2019 and the plant is so big this year. I dug up several chunks of it for a friend.
The pale pink Columbine is blooming. I bought another Columbine plant on clearance and planted it near this one. As many seeds as these plants have you would think I would have Columbine plants all over but I don't.
Very softly pretty 9 patches--
ReplyDeleteI guess you were full of energy!! Nice to have days like that...

You WIN, Wanda!! :o))
ReplyDeleteI remember when I visited recognizing your house from your porch plantings before I saw your address! High energy days are something I wish I had more often.
ReplyDeleteSo *that's* where my ambition went yesterday - to your house! :-)
ReplyDeleteO.K ! ! ! You earned your SUPER WOMANS BADGE yesterday ! I hope you are catching your breath today and just cruising.
ReplyDeleteLove your pastel patches, so lovely and calming. Your gardening is wonderful, and I've always planted the same flowers that are in pots on our deck. I like the consistency of the look. I dearly love columbine and mine are just now leafing out. Like you I wish I had more.
