More fall color......inside and out........

I don't remember my Redbud tree leaves turning orange before.  Usually they just start turning yellow and we get rain and wind and they all drop.  This year it is dry and they are starting to fall off but the ones on the trees are really pretty.

Here is a quilt block I made in 2017 that matches the photo.

This is my backyard neighbor's front yard tree.  I can barely see it from my house because of all of my Redbud trees so I walked over in her yard to take this photo.

This is one of my favorite fall color quilts that I have made.  The pattern is in one of Kaffe Fassett's books but I used different fabrics than the inspiration quilt.  I finished this top in June 2018 and it is still waiting to be quilted.

  1. Our Fall colors are very muted and not all out as yet... lots of greenery abounds here...last week's winds took a lot of leaves down already...
Very pretty Fall block..it does really capture your Redbud's leaves.
Have a wonderful Sunday Hugs, Julierose

  2. Your neighbor's tree is fabulous. The predicted high here for today is 99 degrees. If they are correct, that will be a new record for October 11.

  3. Our redbuds are a combo of yellow and orange, too. In fact, all of our trees are a bit of this and that; nothing seems to be turning uniformly this year. We had a really dry summer and some early cool temps. Weird year all around ...

  4. Good morning Wanda. We have quite a few maples, and they are all giving us a lot of pleasure, with their beautiful fall coats. I remember this quilt and agree with you that it is very beautiful, especially with all those Kaffe fabrics in it. Enjoy this weather, as it looks as if it will be gone after next week.

  5. We have had so much rain here this year. I think Christie said a week ago that we are 2" over the yearly average and we're getting more right now! All that to say that my redbud leaves are just dropping off. No color at all. I still have hope for the big maple trees.

  6. It appears we might have more color here this year - Delta's rains and winds were not as heavy as anticipated (it veered east and we had only the edges instead of the center). Today is still heavy cloud cover with slight drizzle - so what color we have really shows off.

  7. Our maples are turning a beautiful red, but you are right. Some of the other trees are just meh this year. But I still love fall best!! Your Kaffe is so autumnal and perfect.

  8. I love that quilt. The color choices are so perfect. I judge how good a quilt is by how long I spend looking at it. My eyes keep looking at this - at the red flowers in the border, the dark squares in the quilt and border, the lavender, then the yellows and back to the borders again. It's a joy to look at this.

  10. Love, love, love all the fall colors and you make me feel better about not having quilted some tops made in the last couple of years! Happens to the best of us I guess.

  13. Most of the trees in our area turn yellow, but I have a couple of neighbors who have beautiful orange leaves like that. Your quilt is gorgeous - it really captures the essence of the colors of fall.
