A little design wall time.................
I needed a break from cutting so I got out the bag of 6" triangle squares and played at the design wall. I made these blocks about 2 1/2 years ago and couldn't decide whether to group the like ones together or make it all random. I'm not sure it is worth spending my time to try another layout while I'm busy with other things and I may just go ahead and sew it. The blocks are made of all plaids and stripes. It should end up about 72" x 90".
Random!
ReplyDeleteI like the random also; these are just so comforting looking in the plaids...
ReplyDeleteNice work hugs, Julierose
I think I like them organized. Like Julie, I think the plaids look so comfortable.
ReplyDeleteRandom might be nice. It is a good size to cover someone. Happy piecing!
ReplyDeleteI usually sew blocks together randomly because I don't like to spend time dithering because if I do I am never satisfied with any layout and then I never get the quilt put together. And I don't have a design wall to dither around anyway. I think sewing randomly gives quilts kind of a vintage vibe - just like the ones grandma used to make.
ReplyDeleteThe way you have them grouped in the photo looks mighty fine. Plaids look good any ol' way to me!
Going back to your auditions for your African ColorWash piece. I would set a solid piece around it, then add the top cheetah print. Now that is just how I see it and no one but you can finish it the way it should be. (*._.*)
ReplyDeleteYour Autumn leaves so pretty, and more African prints for us to see. Then change of pace too, todays Triangles. I love plaids and stripes and this one is another fun one to work on. Anxious to see if you do a random design or organized color match.

I just put up my first-ever design wall. It's exciting!
ReplyDeleteIn the case of this one, I would be tempted to just sew it together and not spend too much time tweaking. The plaids are amazing and totally wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThe layout looks good to me. The yellows stick out and they are nicely distributed across the quilt top.
ReplyDeleteLove that you used plaids for this pattern….so effecitve.
ReplyDeletelOVING IT ALL Your mind surely is swirling all night long with these great ideas….or else you go to bed totally exhausted from ….all these great ideas!
