It's time to view the 30 star blocks together on the design wall. They are part of the solids with prints series inspired by Lynn's quilt.
I can see I need a lot more medium and dark blocks. I have all of the solid triangles cut. I just need to find and cut the prints.
You 'll have to take my word for it that there is a female goldfinch on one of the lowest Coneflowers in the photo. The Coneflowers are pretty sad looking at this part of their season. They started drying up early while we were in the drought period. I will leave them all winter for the birds and clean them up in the spring.
I think adding more darks to the quilt might add a certain richness.
ReplyDeleteI leave my coneflowers up all winter, too. I walked out the door a couple days ago and it was like an explosion of yellow as the goldfinches all came flying out of the coneflowers. It was just beautiful.
I probably should check my coneflowers and get some seeds to scatter in new places before they're all eaten!
ReplyDeleteMore dark star blocks will definitely add a richness to these pretty blocks...
ReplyDeleteWe have chickadees gobbling up our many cedar tree berries these days...and still a fe finches around...as it gets colder more Winter birds will come by. Our cedars really attract a lot of visitors...

I so love the solids with prints quilts!
ReplyDeleteI don't usually see finches in my coneflowers until winter. I have a thistle sock up for them year round and there are often 5-6 little guys on it. They are losing their yellow now; not a very pretty stage!
Your blocks look so good. I’ll take your word that the goldfinch is in there.
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of novelties that might work - do you need any?
