I finally have my light fixture back in my main floor studio where I usually do my night sewing. Just in time for spring I am going to start the quilt that I'm calling Spring Star with lots of spring flower colors.
On this one I reversed the center squares and added some 2-print triangle blocks near the corners. It will mean some more piecing if I do this version because all of the squares sewn had been a dark/light triangle combination.
This one is the same corners as number 2 but another different center. I just have to decide which one I like best and then I can start assembling blocks. Maybe I'll do more than one of the styles. I could also make the center a pinwheel. So many options.....
The 3rd one is so kaleidoscope-ish, what fun! Love the use of white background fabrics; I find I struggle to include these and am never happy with the outcome, so this is an excellent model for me to study.

I love all of them!
ReplyDeleteI like all of them! is this pattern called the Carpenter's Star?
ReplyDeleteAnother terrific triangle design!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I like #3.
ReplyDeleteThey all are fabulous, but my favorite is #2.
ReplyDeleteNumber 3 is my favorite!!
ReplyDeleteI love all three of them. I think it adds a nice variation to do different styles in one quilt but still in the same color way --- which is breath-taking, by the way. Just what I needed this gloomy Monday morning!!

Good morning Wanda. While I like all 3 of these blocks, I initially did not care for #2, because of the white center block, but the more I look at it, the better I like it. Guess 1 and 2 would be my favorites. Would you consider using all 3 of the blocks in the quilt? That way you wouldn't have to choose just one. lol Enjoy your day.
ReplyDeleteThey are very yummy! Love them!
ReplyDeleteHi Wanda, What a fresh springtime post! When I first saw this earlier today, there were no comments. My reaction then is the same as now: all three are wonderful; why not use all of them? Just a question. It will again be fascinating to see what you choose.
ReplyDeleteOh, now, I like them ALL [not much help, huh:))) ]they are all lovely.
ReplyDeleteI like those light and airey Spring fabrics...so uplifting--which we all need right now...hugs, Julierose
I love the idea of making the centers in a variety of formats - the overall pattern is strong enough to carry the quilt but those varying centers will cause closer inspection and fun discoveries. This one is going to be FABULOUS!!!
ReplyDeleteWell said.
DeleteThese look great, Wanda! I love them all!!!
ReplyDeleteI like them all. #1 seems more delicate; #3 seems more bold. I'm looking forward to seeing which you choose and seeing this project come together. Very inspiring!
ReplyDeleteLove this pattern! I would make some of each. How many total blocks are you going to make? And what size are they finished?
ReplyDeleteLove them all! I think mixing them all in one quilt is a great idea, as one person said. They all blend together well.
ReplyDeleteSpring Star dances right off the screen. This has been designing fun for you, to say the least and to read you could change the center with a pin wheel also. Hope you photograph the pin wheel if you do try it. When you first showed the cut pieces for this piece, I never dreamed it would design so beautifully. But you had these designs in your head with every piece you cut. (^._,^)

The colors are certainly very lovely. Lots of possiblities. I am sure you will choose the best one.
ReplyDeleteI like them all and would probably use all of them (and try the pinwheel center, too). Working out a pressing plan would be necessary, though, so the seams would nest when the blocks are sewn together. I'm really tempted by this.

I 'vote' for #3 - I like how the centre is more like a star block :)
ReplyDeleteI wondered what you were going to make with all those triangles. This is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThese blocks are amazing, Wanda! I love all of them!! Looking forward to seeing what you decide...

I LOVE your colors and fabrics! My favorite layout is #3
ReplyDeleteOh I do think this is gorgeous. As I look outside at the drizzle (where did the promise of sun go?) a bit of spring in the stars are so cheerful. I like them all and it would be fun to play with different centres too.
ReplyDeleteI love all of them. Why not vary the centers and make it a bit easier on yourself (ha!) by not using the two print HSTs? I think the star with the solid corners looks just as nice.
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful with the fabrics and colour hues you have chosen. What pattern is it?
