2 more variations............

Same star as yesterday but with Broken Dishes center.

The blocks will finish at 20" so I only need to make 12 of them for a 60" x 80" quilt top.  That is assuming I won't add sashing or a border.

Two changes on this one.  First the center is a pinwheel.  Second the 3 colored squares together on the top half of the block and 2 split squares and 1 whole square on the bottom half of the block.  I originally planned to do them with whole (not pieced) squares and since I have over 400 cut that is the way I will handle those corners.

In other sewing, I sewed all of the strip sets that I need to finish making the 9 patches for the Blooming 9 patch.  Today I will press them and cut the segments so I can finish them.

  1. I love the pinwheel variation. The slight changes are only discernible if you look hard. With such wonderful color and fabrics you can easily include variations and not distract from the whole thing.

  3. I'm loving your stars in all of these bright prints Wanda. I have made this pattern with shades of gold and a cream print for a table topper and really liked it, but it really shines with all of this colour, too.

  5. So many nice little variations. My favorite is the very first from your previous post. You could mix them all together because they have such a strong cohesive feel.

  7. "Twinkle, twinkle little star" ... Every block has its own sparkling personality . And so fun for us to see how changing the centers makes a difference.

  10. Wanda, this is just about my favorite quilt right now. I love what you're doing with it. I think all the blocks should go in the same quilt. Fabulous use of color. Stay safe.
