Quilting finished.............

I had 3 hours of TV to watch last night so I got the last rows quilted on "Downtown".  I also pulled all of the basting threads out.  Now I need to trim it and find a binding fabric.  The race is on for this finish for March.  I also wanted 3 quilt tops sewn and I don't think that is going to happen. I should be able to finish the Blooming 9 patch quilt top though since I have just 4 more rows to sew and then add the 2 large pieced corner sections.
My childhood friend called yesterday and we talked for 2 hours.  I was walking by my cactus shelving while talking to her and noticed there were 3 more blooms.  Two were next to each other so I captured their beauty in this photo.  I see there is one more bud on this plant and one on my peach/orange one.

  1. This view of your quilt reminds me of a tower block at night and I love the splash of orange. The small cactus my daughter bought me for xmas is now recovering after losing it's buds when she carried it home. It's now got a decent bud and 2 small ones are showing. I only watered it from the bottom twice a month and I'll take care to not over-water again. Seeing as I can't go out to buy more plants for a while this one will be protected. My Fuchsia's are budding, as are a few other plants and I can see the new growth on my Peonies :)

  2. what a lovely finish on the grid quilt--it looks warm and cozy for these raw early Spring days...
My two cactus are stubbornly refusing to bloom as well as the two amaryllis--but they (amaryllis) have thrown up long sword leaves--no flower budding though.

  4. Downtown looks so good. I'm glad you were able to get it all quilted. You have accomplished a lot this month even if you don't get those tops sewn or the binding finished on Downtown. It great you got to spend time on the phone with a friend. The blooms on the cactus are lovely! I enjoy seeing my daffodils bloom outside my sewing room window.

  5. The quilt looks great. I have a few cactus blooms, but I lost my peach one. I can tell you worked hard on this one.

  6. Down town looks pretty Up town to me. Has such a sophisticated precision.

Wish I could suddenly find some Cactus blossoms as pretty as yours. They look like they are dancing in the shadows.
