Quilting completed..............

Quilting is finished on my Kaffe meets Plaid quilt.  I got it trimmed and will look for binding today.  I had trouble with thread shredding about every 2 passes for awhile and I finally decided to make sure the needle eye was centered since I had changed the needle a couple weeks ago.  With the longarm there isn't a flat side to the top so you are guessing whether you have the needle in the correct position.  After I changed it slightly I got all of the rest of the quilting done with no problems.

I used my channel lock and stitched lines with random spacing between them.  So Fine thread by Superior on top in a camel brown color.  Hobbs 80/20 batting. I plan on doing the binding all by machine to have a second finish for this month in a day or two.  Now I really need to pick one more to quilt to have 3 finishes for the month.

  1. it turned out really well. Is it strange for the needle to be like that? I mean are all long arms like that with needles no flat side to go by or is it the brand you have?

  3. I was going to ask what Karen asked you. Seems a strange thing, to have to do. I zoomed in on your lovely quilt - it looks ginormous; maybe 96" across. Hope you get your 3 quilts finished in time.

  4. The combination of Kaffe random designs and the geometry of the plaids is fabulous. What a finish!

  5. Spectacular, bright, lively quilt... I so hesitate to mix plaids with, well, just about anything, and this works so well! Love it — and happy to know we'll see the finish very soon!

  7. Interesting about needles for a long arm machine. That would be so frustrating to line up the eye of the needle perfectly. . . I know you'll reach your goal for finishing another three this month.

  8. I love quilting straight lines with the channel locks. I'm using it on a veterans quilt today. It's so fast!

  9. I may have to try quilting straight lines. I haven't done that on my longarm. Your Kaffe quilt looks great!
