About 1/3 of the hand stitching on the binding is done. I like the binding with both sides of the quilt. The backing fabric said Roaring 20s on the selvage. I'm really not as much aware of the fabric of the 20s and it looks like 30s repro to me.
I'm still cutting for a future project. I will probably have at least another week (maybe 2) of cutting before I am ready to sew. A lot of the fabric will be cut from yardage rather than scraps so there is a lot of pressing out fold marks before cutting. You know the routine, choose the fabrics, press the fabrics, cut the fabrics and finally.......sewing. I'm really going to make the effort to use my favorite fabrics this year.
You are doing fabulous with getting projects done! I know you will get the binding on the trip around the world quilt before the end of the month. I can't wait to see what you are going to do with the fabrics you are cutting. Love the black and white prints with those wonderful reds!
ReplyDeleteI am there with you on the using favorite fabrics and fabrics in the stash ... I know I'll add a few pieces here and there but I am focused on using what I have. Those reds (deep sigh).
ReplyDeletePerfect backing and binding. Supreme hand stitching and a beautiful mitered corner. And now anxious to see what you design with those fascinating pieces in the box.

I agree! Life is too short to use fabrics only because you have them, when you have others that will bring you joy!
ReplyDeleteLove your organizational skills! As for the pressing out fold lines, don't know what you have but when we moved into this home, we were blessed with a Samsung front load washer and dryer. The dryer has two steam cycles, one that is 15 minutes and perfect for 'ironing' out fold lines and wrinkles. I put 2-3 pieces in there and they come out without them. The fabric may need 'smoothing' but that is so easy without the wrinkles. I discovered this by accident and since found out most people who have these steam cycles never use them!
ReplyDeleteThe cutting box is pretty exciting. All kinds of fun. Thank you for all the posts and pictures. How could I start my day without you and how could I keep being challenged?
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on so many posts! Yes I agree, use the fabric you like the best while it is your favorite. No point in letting it languishing in the stash and getting dated.
ReplyDeleteI will be at 15 years this summer with my blog--I am glad to have this journal of my quiltmaking. Blogs have added depth to how I look at my work and others.
ReplyDeleteReading your blog is a highlight of my mornings.
Wow!!! #4800 is really a remarkable feat.
ReplyDeleteThanks for always sharing such beautiful photos and quilts. You truly are an inspiration.
