Choosing a backing...........

I decided my next quilt backing was going to be a combination of several long strips from this box.  The label has slipped down but it says long strips leftover from backings.  It is so full I pulled the batiks out and will start a second box.
Here are the 3 strips I chose for this quilt.  I put a note on each strip with approximate measurements and whether it needs to be trimmed to straighten it.  These 3 are longer than I need but the best match for colors in the front of the quilt.
Our Friday night snow was just enough to cover all of the branches and the ground.  Now it will be above freezing for 3 days so it will all melt. That's the way I like it.  The older I get the less I like to be outside on slick surfaces.

One of my readers asked if I could show my favorite quilts I have made in the last 10 years. (I showed my favorites from 2019 a couple days ago).  Is anyone else interested in seeing them?

  1. I would enjoy seeing your favorites,too!
I would be tempted to cut those strips up and use them in quilt blocks.

  2. Yes please - I always like to see what you've made, whenever it was created. The weather has been a bit milder here the past week, nothing like the winter weather we'd expect for the time of year, but I'm not complaining, just wondering 'when' the snow will arrive - fingers crossed it doesn't :)

  5. Good morning Wanda, and yes, I too would enjoy seeing those quilts as well. I'm with you regarding the snow and ice, and have to be very careful as I traverse the driveway to retrieve the newspaper every morning. Take care, and enjoy your day.

  13. My vote is yes also... Anxiously awaiting the show !

Your long strips for backing couldn't be better. Of course you knew exactly where to start looking for your backing.

Weather here in the mountains is the same as yours... Just wondering when we're going to get hit with the big one.

  20. Those backing fabrics are fabulous! You have such a wonderful, timeless, collection of fabrics! You are so smart to label each piece. Not much snow here so far this winter. It has been rather warm so only the little bits in the shade last very long.
