A bright idea.............

My son and daughter in law came over and helped me take down 2 tables in the basement and move things around.  This drafting table ended up where the 2 tables had been and it is right under a really bright light bulb.  Now it is perfect as a cutting table and as a basting table for my wallhangings.  It is probably the most well lit cutting table of the 3 in my basement.  I can fit 2 of the largest Olfa mats on it.  Below is a photo from 2013 that shows the other 2 cutting tables.

  1. What a great sized table. Nice to see all your other quilts in the background and shows what you were creating 6 years ago. Hope your snow has now gone - a shame it affected the leaves on your trees and plants.

  2. Good light is so important - glad your family helped you (that looks like a heavy table).

  5. I am always trying to figure out a better way to arrange the work furniture. I am working on painting the knotty pine in my basement white, removing the drop ceiling and replacing all the overhead lights with LEDs. Going slow. Your work space looks terrific. Anti fatigue mats from home improvement stores help whe you stand and cut.

  6. It is also just a really beautiful table! I just love your basement sewing space. It's a lot like mine. When I see photos of beautiful creative spaces with high end cabinetry and finishes all I can think is that person's hobby is decorating, not sewing. Nothing wrong with that but those aren't spaces that I could work in.

  7. Good to hear the "kids" came over to help with moving your tables around. Lighting is SOooo very important ! 2 years ago I had my husband install another 6' fluorescent in my workroom (in the basement) and I don't even need my readers when working anymore. That makes 4, great lighting and I love it .

  8. I love seeing your beautiful workspace. Colorful design walls are the best inspiration. A friend made me a large cutting table several years ago which was a dream come true (still is!)and I have really noticed that I can never have too much light these days.

  11. What a nice table to work on and such a roomy space! And to think your stash is also in that area too! What a huge space! You need to make a mess of cookies and have everyone come over and have a painting party. That space with white walls would be so much brighter.
