8 combinations.............

I cut the last 2 combinations of fabrics for the Snail's Trail blocks.  The bottom center block is pretty low contrast so I'll have to see if it really works after I get some more blocks made.  The 2 fabrics looked like they would work but the true test is cutting the fabrics and sewing the block.

One of the things I emphasize in my classes is staying organized so you can get more accomplished in less time.  Here, rather than just throwing the scraps into a box I have cut some of the scraps that were wide enough into 2.5" squares that I might be able to use in my colorwash quilts.

There are just 3 more days to sign up for my online Colorwash 360 class. Registration ends Sunday, April 7 and the 40 day live session starts Monday April 8.  For more about the class, go to Saturday's post.  Registration is going well and we still have some kits available for the students to purchase however it is a very limited quantity.  I'm so happy to teach these students all about color.

  1. Thanks to your advice, I always cut the leftover pieces into useable units instead of throwing in a pile. However, all the scraps people give me are a serious threat to my system. Once it gets warmer, I have to tackle the bags in the garage and get them cut up.

  2. I love this. I forgot about this setting though. I love my Go Big cutter, but I hate the way they put all their info on big clunky pieces of cardboard. I end up throwing it out in a fit of cleanup. You would think they would use regular printing paper we could easily file away.

  3. I get busy so my organization goes out the window! LOL!!! I had spent a lot of time over a year ago sorting all my scraps by color, but ever since them they have all just gone into one box. I think I might be hopeless! Your blocks are looking good. Yes, there isn't much contrast in that one, but I am sure you will find a place for it.

  4. When I played along with the Old MacDonald Mystery Sampler a couple of years ago, we had Snail's Trail blocks in the foreground. I had one combination that I was SURE would work -- it didn't. That block ended up becoming a mug rug (by itself it was fine but it didn't play nicely with the others due to its low contrast). You are so right about needing to sew the block before being sure.

  5. I love Snails Trail blocks. I made 3 or 4 quilts with them about 10 years ago and just found a perfect home for one of them Some quilts have to wait a while for their forever home.

  7. You are the QUEEN of Organization ! Your blog has shown us that all these years.

I enlarged your latest Snails Trail block and those fabrics are so pretty together, I know you will work it in somewhere.
