I just wanted to sew something so I cut the pieces for this block with the LeMoyne Star die. I wanted to see if it is a fun enough block to want to make a whole quilt of it.
The first bud stalk is blooming on the Amaryllis. It showed a deep almost burgundy red on the package but it turned out to be just an average red one. The second bud stalk is getting tall and I think it will be at least a week before it opens. There was another one at the store with 2 buds peeking out so for $5 I decided I should have another one. Maybe it will bloom at Christmas. It is a Stargazer which is red with white up the center of each petal.
Red seems to be the order of the day, which is fine by me as it is my favorite color. Will it stay an orphan.
ReplyDeleteI love your red block, how about a quilt of various reds?
ReplyDeleteI bought two stargazers but neither is anywhere near ready to bloom they have barely started - maybe I will have them open for Christmas - love the new block.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Wanda.....I think your Lemoyne Star block is beautiful and would love to see what color family you'd use, if you decide to go ahead with making a quilt.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bloom - I fell out of love with the LeMoyne star during my very first piecing class - those Y seams were just too much for a rank beginner. Perhaps it works better using the die cut pieces but if you go forward, you have my complete admiration.
ReplyDeleteLOVE, LOVE your star block, fabric chose and design, it blossoms like your pretty Amaryllis . Nice Sunday post Wanda.

Adore your star block...the fabrics are great. Can't wait to see a whole quilt like that, 'twould be stunning.
ReplyDeleteLovely star b lock, looks like a very nice secondary pattern will show itself if you make a few more.
ReplyDeleteSo was that block fun to make? I love the rich fabric colors you selected for this block.
