Needing borders..........
In addition to the Sunlight in the Forest awaiting borders, the 2 quilts above are also waiting. The butterfly quilt just needs a border of the same background fabric and the other one has its border fabric next to it. I don't have to make any decisions, I just need to cut the fabric and sew it on.
This one from 2016 is also waiting for a border but I have to decide what it is going to be on this one. I'm sure if I looked through the tops on hangers I might find another that is waiting for borders too.
And then there are all of the quilts waiting to be quilted. So what do I want to do? Start another quilt of course.
If you look at this photo long enough you will see 4 tall milkweed plants all around the hydrangea bush. They are all in bloom but no Monarch butterflies around them yet.
Only about half of the new perennials I planted last year survived the winter. This one is a compact Beebalm. It is only about 12" tall and just starting to bloom. Neither of the coneflowers came up. I have good luck with the native purple coneflowers, just not with the fancy nursery ones in other colors.
Of course you want to start a new quilt -- why not! The fun is in the designing and choosing of fabrics and playing with layout arrangements. Borders, quilting, and binding are extra steps to finish - but they aren't quite as much fun.
ReplyDeleteYesterday I dragged out the box of quilts in progress. I still like all of them but the Sea Urchin paper pieced is gorgeous fabric, but time sucking. So, I decided to start a new quilt and now, I have permission to do it because of your post!
ReplyDeleteLooking closer, I can't figure out how you pieced the hexagon with triangles. Do you have a link back- I am not sure what it is called.
ReplyDeleteButterflies, Diamnds and Stars a fun collection to see again. I know you'll stitch those borders on when you're really ready.
ReplyDeleteYour garden blossoms are way ahead of mine, if I look real close I can see the buds coming on my hydrangea bush. I'm still enjoying my bearded Iris.

I’ve wanted to start a new quilt but said I have to finish a few. But now......
ReplyDeleteLOL - I don't need an excuse to start a new quilt - that's what I DO - hahaha - ;))
ReplyDeleteI love the butterfly quilt but no pressure. Starting a new project is also a great option.
ReplyDeleteI can so identify with you about wanting to start another quilt!!! And that is why I have several UFOs that just need quilting or putting the blocks together. Eventually I'll get to them - I think! As usual, what pretty quilts you make!!
ReplyDeleteI'd forgotten about the butterfly top. I'd finish that one first. If you're going to sell that one, it will go in a flash.
ReplyDeleteI've read that the hybrid cone flowers are not very hardy. I have the regular ones, although there don't seem to be as many of those around either. I keep letting the milkweed grow, but don't see many Monarchs here anymore.

Sorry to hear about the nursery coneflowers. I bought some for the first time last year, and they have all come back. I have the red/orange, the golden, and the pink. They were slow to start but have come on like gangbusters now.
ReplyDeleteI planted them off to themselves, afraid that I wouldn't recognize them when they came back, since I'd never had ANY before. Now I have to decide where I really want them.
I see your blog daily, it is crispy to study.
ReplyDeleteYour blog is very useful for me & i like so much...
Thanks for sharing the good information!
