After changing pieces for 2 1/2 hours yesterday I finally said Enough! I did lots of changes to the top left corner and some in the purple section.
This collage photo should enlarge if you click on it. It shows the final layout left and the previous 2 days on the right.
I have all of the vertical seams sewn and it is now waiting for a press job. It was 97 degrees yesterday so I wasn't in a rush to turn on the iron at the end of the day. I'll do that this morning.
I picked my first peony bouquet. There are 2 more plants that should bloom today for more variety and a larger bouquet. High 90s predicted again today.
The water color looks fabulous. And those peonies are so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love it and the two blocks that I identified are both different. There are other changes that have such a huge effect on the look. Your artistic ability is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteIt's stunning - I think it's my favourite of the water colours you've done!
ReplyDeleteI can only imagine how wonderful those peonies smell - they look beautiful. We're having the same weather - it seems a bit early for the high heat and humidity, but I'll take it over snow and cold!
It’s beautiful, just perfect. Our peonies seem to last just one week before the intense heat gets them. Enjoy yours.
ReplyDeleteSometimes you can drive yourself nuts with color placement. (And by the time you're trying combination E you have forgotten what combination A was.) My peonies are about to pop. They are lush this year.
ReplyDeleteI am totally enjoying watching the evolution of this piece. This may be my favorite colorwash ever!
ReplyDeleteYour colorwash is wonderful, Wanda! Anxious to see it up close. I noticed one of my peony bushes by the garage is in bloom...it's a pale pink version and in the shade most of the day. Another scorcher today. We worked outside yesterday and took LOTS of breaks.
ReplyDeleteThe finished layout is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI love your new colorwash!!! I love all of them and each new one you do becomes my favorite. I think I will start cutting some squares from my stash and scraps and start playing with them and see what I can come up with.
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous! I loved watching your process. Is each fabric used only once?
ReplyDeleteTRUE PERFECTION ! I didn't think it could get any better, as always you made it happen. Glorious to say the least. . . .I can hardly wait for your color wash tuitorial. Hoping to discover your magic.
ReplyDeleteLovely peony bouquet, setting on top of one your fun table runners. I so enjoyed your post today Wanda.

I don't know how you ever settle on a final layout. Your peonies are glorious.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to believe it's as hot there as it is here! Did you get the humidity, too?
ReplyDeleteThe colorwash is gorgeous, as always. You amaze me!
Just love those watercolours.
ReplyDeleteAnd the peonies! Mine are still in bud, but then they get shade for half the day - my mother's have been blooming for a while and true to form they get rained on. Such a shame. We have been having thunderstorms predicted and in some places some humdingers around England and Wales. My daughter lives in the Midlands and her car was damaged by hail! I'd expect big hail in somewhere like Saskatchewan but in Blighty?!!! We were lucky down here in Hampshire - we just got the edge of one so heavy rain. Although I predict more rain when my blooms are just open! It's lovely to see your peonies in a vase - your clumps are big enough to enjoy inside and out. I'm quite jealous! ;)
Hi, Your blog is both inspirational, informational and joyful. For the most part I'm not a big fan of colorwashes. That being said, this one is vibrant and with a lot of boldness. Could it be some Exuberant Color? Nope, it's a bit more,OK well yup. If you define Exuberantrant Color as you... Well, yeah. A bit and then some. Then you share the bits of exhuberant color around you in your garden. So, oh I don't know... Both plants and fabric seem to translate to simpatico in your expression of life and art.
ReplyDeleteAnyways, I enjoy and both agree and disagree with some of your quilting ideas and interpretations. I truly appreciate your blog.
Thanks. Tara
PS Glad you're still here after recent health scare.
