I was pretty sure Kaffe had done this quilt that my friend and I are making in an earlier book so I started going through all of his books to find it. It was all pastels and nowhere near as striking as his newer one on the left.
The pastel one is in the book on the left and the newer one in the book on the right. I think it would be fun to choose my own fabrics and make another one.....but I need to finish this one first. We are going to work on them again on Wednesday. Meanwhile I will cut the rest of the strips.
I love the fabrics on the one you are sewing now. Do you just keep adding the strips, with/out any foundation behind? Has your snow all finished now? It's still cold here but the plants are budding, so will start cutting back next week. I've got a cold and sore throat now but managing to sew some shopper bags etc. Have a lovely weekend sewing :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this. Based on your reply to my question on what book, I was able to find a copy at our local library. It's on hold for me, so I look forward to perusing it. Your work is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI have one of the books but not the other. His books are eye candy to me. Looking forward to your finished quilt.
ReplyDeleteI made this quilt last year! It is so beautiful! Kaffe is my all-time favorite fabric designer. I first saw his fabrics on your blog, so thank you!
ReplyDeleteThey really do look different in the different fabrics. Not sure which one I like best.
ReplyDeleteI bought the fabric pack for the pastes when I bought Quilt Romance - the quilt top is still sitting in the closet, it is certainly nowhere near as striking as his latest version, the one you're making. I see that the date I bought the book is 2009!!
