My friend and I made good progress on our quilts yesterday. We cut centers 7" longer than the size in the book. Then we cut and added 9 rounds to it. She got here at 9:30 and we worked until 5 p.m. After she left I ate my evening meal and then added three more rounds. We had to order two more fabrics to be able to finish it with all of the same fabrics as were used in the book so it will probably be about a week before I get back to it.
This is the layout I had for my 16 patch blocks after I made the last block. I didn't like the lightest block in there.
I had one more of the alternate fabric squares left so I took out the light one and moved one from the top row into that position which made room for the floral fabric. I'm much happier with it now. I will probably change a few blocks to different positions before I sew it together.
How fun to have a day quilting and piecing with a friend. I'm sure the giggles and laughter were pleasantly passed back and forth and a great day to remember was had. Happy quilting! Connie :)
Two wows! My favorite is the red quilt! I guess because it’s so nice and warm, even though purple is one of my favorite colors. I think I’m just ready for the warmth of spring right now, and the other quilt puts me more in the mind of winter. But, of course, they’re really both phenomenal.
Lovely quilts in progress. I especially admire that top one--the colors are lovely beautiful works hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteYou got a lot done on that top. Do you call it a log cabin or medallion style quilt top?
ReplyDeleteI like the new quilt. I started the same on but with all blues and browns.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work- and how satisfying to get so much accomplished on the new one. What book is it from? I don't think I've seen it.
ReplyDeleteYou and your friend made it your with the rectangle center. Stunning to say the least. 16 Patch, always fun to study.

ReplyDeleteI really like that top quilt. I would never think to put those fabrics together, but they look so nice.

Love that top one... on my screen it is dancing. Great fabric choices!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been here in a while. I love the header picture. And also the quilt you made with your friend. Lovely.
