Almost done.............

I got this far on my Kaffe quilt.  Here is a link to a photo  in Kaffe's Quilts in Italy book.   I have 2 more borders to sew on.

Just in case you think this is a little quilt, here it is on my double design wall.  Right now it is 68.5" x 80".  The next 2 borders will add a total of 8" to each of those measurements.

I think this will be the last red cactus bloom.  I have 2 more buds on the white one and 4 buds on one of the champagne colored ones.  They may not all bloom since it is so late in the season but I hope they do.  We are getting warm weather this week and then back down in the 40s for Sunday and Monday.

  1. Thanks for the posting on the size of the quilt. It gave me a whole new appreciation for the quilt. The fabric looks pretty powerful that size.

  2. This is a scrumptious quilt and showcases Kaffe prints so well. It reminds me of a Monet painting.

  3. This is just a stunning quilt- all the more so because of its size. It really helps that you posted the design wall to give an idea of size because I envisioned it smaller. Very impressive. And maybe it's just me, but I find sewing rounds of strips (esp. this large/long) can be a challenge to keep in square.

  4. I agree with Nancy. I strongly dislike sewing long strips on quilts (borders included--it's usually where I quit). Love the stripes in the quilt--they add a special look.

  6. I won't repeat what everyone else has said so well, but do think that this is one of my favorite quilts, even if you didn't design it. It's going to be even more stunning when it is completed.

At least we have a few days of nice weather before Mother Nature goes bonkers again.

  8. Just absolutely GORGEOUS ! I wondered why the ladies felt that stitching long pieces together was a challenge. You know I am not a quilter, but I wouldn't think it would be a challenge if it was all cut correctly to begin with. Interesting ....
