Hunter Star blocks............

One of my friends who was here on Tuesday was working on her Hunter Star quilt so that inspired me to cut some more blocks from my batik scraps.

Here are some of the combinations.

I added them to the pieces I last showed in October 2017.  I will just keep making blocks now and then and eventually I'll have enough for a quilt.

My pale pink cactus is still blooming.  This plant always blooms more often than my others.  I could take the little marker out that says Pale Pink because I know the color of this one by the pot that it is in.

The pink blooms are so pretty.

  1. The batik Hunter's star quilt is going to be a stunner! That is a nice spot of pink to remind us that spring is coming!

  2. I’ve tried looking for a pale pink or white cactus but they don’t mark the color or have blooms at the store. Yours is beautiful. I really like your hunter star blocks, I’ve heard they are difficult to make.

  3. I have the Hunter Star die cut and need to work along with you. BUT, I have so many other quilts started that I need to finish first. I'll have to give this some thought. Love your cactus. I had four or five and killed them all. A dear friend gave me one a year ago and knock on wood it is still living, and had one bloom on it this year. Have a good weekend.

  8. I just bought that die myself. I want to do a scrappy one using my drawer of blue hand dyes. Maybe a green one too. Both of those drawers are full.

  9. Love the Hunter's Star... I have the die but have yet to use it. Your quilt will be a beauty, as always... and the Christmas cactus is so pretty!

  10. Love your variety of Hunter's Star blocks, Wanda. I made a Hunter's Star quilt many years ago, before there were plastic templates, or die cutters available for this pattern! It is one of my favorites, although it is still waiting to be hand quilted. I think I need to consider doing some machine quilting!!
That pink cactus bloom is beautiful...that is one plant I haven't tried....I think our kitty would be attracted to the blooms, and that would be the end of the plant!! So I will just be content looking at your posts with pictures of yours!!
Have a great weekend! We are having pretty weather here in Virginia, but extremely windy...

  11. It's ages since I had one of these cactus plants in the house, I always loved watching for the buds and then the flowers. Your pink one is such a cheerful pink.
I have a book on Hunters Star but cutting the pieces stopped me having a go, I may think about the Accuquilt die later in the year, saves a lot of time. You have some beautiful colour combos there.

  13. OK ... I have to ask .... do you feed your cactus a lot? Mine only bloom now and then. It has been so lovely to see your plants blooming.

I have one block made for a Hunter's Star from a class from about 3 yrs. ago. I should get everything out and seriously decide if I continue or not. Your batik version is lovely!
