Jerry's quilt top..........
You have seen one of Otis' quilts in the past. Jerry is the other guy in my art quilters group. I sold him a package of four inch finished triangles cut with my Studio die cutter out of a miscellaneous group of scrap fabrics. I made sure there was an equal number of light values and dark values in the pack which was enough for 36 blocks. Jerry supplied the fabric for the center squares. He eliminated one block for a 5 x 7 layout for a quilt top around 60" x 84". He got the top totally sewn together yesterday. This is a Friendship Star pattern. I know some people have renamed this pattern.
Very sharp quilt. Lots of movement and a good overall feel of color and texture.
ReplyDeleteJerry did a fantastic job on his quilt, with so much attention given to color placement and visual appeal. It's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteJerry did a great job on this. I love the way he emphasized the secondary pattern with his layout. I have made a friendship star using the Accuquilt chisel die - however with that method there is no center square.
ReplyDeleteI like it! love the colors and the design layout - he sure is fast to get all the sewing done so quickly - I just can't sit and sew all day normally
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt! Good job Jerry!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Jerry - gorgeous quilt top!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat looks really nice.
ReplyDeleteLove all the colour combinations and placements - having the triangles already cut would have made the job go faster and a great finish by Jerry :)
ReplyDeleteI've been a bit poorly last week and with other commitments as well, I've not been able to get any sewing done. I've had to cancel my table at a local craft fair on Thursday so not too happy about that. Oh well, there is always another day, but not this year. Got to keep on smiling :) Hope you're well and happy :)
I can see so many, many patterns in this quilt. Fun to look at and Jerry did a great job. Of course he has a great instructor !

Very cool interpretation of the friendship star block. I like the incorporation of the florals which adds interest and color. You are an extraordinary mentor.

Wow! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI love a friendship star! We just got our new quilt barn block - a painted 8’ x 8’ block - up on the barn. I designed it, and it features a friendship star, with a checkerboard Border.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful wuilt!
Wow! Love the colours. :D
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly why I love reading your blog (plus of course the fact that I really, really like you)! I love Jerry's quilt top and I have saved this photo, so I can do one like it one of these days! Thank you for all the inspiration!
