Borders on.........

I had enough of the leaf batik to cut 3.25" borders so now the top is somewhere near 61" x 76".  The stars are floating now with the border sewn on.  I pulled out another project and did some sewing on it.  I will give it to someone who does service projects.  It was a sample when I was teaching the disappearing 9 patch I don't care for the fabrics.  I also found a bunch of floral blocks in the box, some 9 patches not sliced yet as well as many strips ready to make more blocks.  I may finish that one some day.

My burning bush is not at all pretty this year.  It is usually a brilliant red.  The long dry spell we had at the end of summer has dried up some of the leaves already.  I'm hoping after the frost (predicted for Tuesday night) that maybe it will turn more red before the leaves all fall off.

  4. Beautiful quilt, I really like the soft colors. Our trees have very little red and our burning bush is similar to yours. Most of the leafs are gone now and we will be raking soon. Rain is expected which we need.

  7. This quilt is outstandingly (is that a word?) beautiful!! The pale batik is so unusual and paired with the darker batiks--ooh la la! And soo glad you are feeling well enough to sew. I've always been amazed at your energy--don't think I could keep up your pace. God is watching out for our Wanda!

  10. Your kite quilt is more than exuberant - it's almost iridescent! What a lovely quilt.

  11. Will you custom quilt it or an a meandering pattern?

Leaf-wise, same over here. There are very few leaves turning red in our area. Some are but most just are still green turning yellow and drop. The oak is only just turning yellow but then it doesn't really do much. Even the beech trees are dropping before going that beautiful coppery colour. Well maybe that's due to gales and ex-hurricanes giving a helping hand!
I think a contrary season has thrown everything out - still have spring flowering shrubs and climbers putting on a show for the second time this year!

  13. Love your floating stars. This is a beautiful quilt! It's Wanda-ful!

I'm sorry the weather has been so unkind to your burning bush. The big maple tree in our backyard is not pretty this year, either. But we just found out that it has verticillium wilt, a fungal infection that is common in Utah and is incurable. So now we have to decide when to take it out and what we will replace it with. I am sad.

Take care. Love to see all of your projects, and I am so glad that you are feeling up to working on them.

  14. A really lovely finish. That outer border made a big difference! I've used the kite die but not for alternate blocks -- maybe I will now that I've seen your beauty.
