There were 2 more new shows on TV last night so I sewed more blocks like I showed yesterday. When I run out of one fabric I just substitute one that is similar. The cross bars are the same in both blocks, the verticals are different.
I end up with three of the square blocks and one rectangular block with the number of strips I am using.
This is the variety so far. I don't know what I am making so I'll keep making more of them and then eventually get to a design wall and play.
The bees and butterflies are still flocking to the aster blooms.
This shot shows the two different colors of blooms and how full the plants are now. I have never had luck wintering over chrysanthemums so Asters are the next best plant to have lots of blooms in the fall.
I have the same problem with wintering over mums - asters are so much more graceful, I tell myself (sour grapes?) but they do lack that mum scent that is so fall-ish.

I think I am one of those people you can't respond to - sorry I have tried to fix that. But this doesn't need a reply - I smiled to myself about the TV shows. I too had 3 Tuesday night and 2 last night.
ReplyDeleteExcept for the news, I hardly watch TV. I have no patience for commericals. My husband has been watching the Vietnam series on PBS, and I try to watch for a while, but it is so painful.
ReplyDeleteAre your blocks made from strip sets? Sewing all those tiny squares would be time consuming. I love your color combos.
which tv shows are you watching? I almost forgot the new season was starting - last year I found very few that I liked.
ReplyDeleteLove all the colors in your blocks because they are so vivid. I used to have aster plants and loved them, but the bunnies, of which we have MANY, ate they all. It's a problem because we have woods in back of us and their are quite a few animals that eat in our garden. It used to bother me, but now, not so much.
ReplyDeleteI can t bear the TV. I'll suffer thru news for an hour just so o I don't miss the earth falling off its axis. I'm working on a course with Eckhart Tolle--learning to live in silecce. Very interesting and spiritual.
ReplyDeleteI saw the ads about that new president show with Keifer, but I decided I don't need to start watching. Besides that I had the baseball game on - Indians won again. I like those blocks you are making. They almost look like buildings with the lights on.
ReplyDeletelove the blocks.... I have been wanting to try something similar for some time.
ReplyDeleteLove the blocks, and asters, they are so bright.
ReplyDeleteI like those new blocks. It will be interesting to me to see what they turn into! Your asters are pretty. It's too hot for them here.
ReplyDeleteYour interesting blocks are reminding me of street grates....sometimes a little scary to walk over because of the spaces where things can drop through!
