11:30 p.m. finish............

I loaded the quilt on the longarm in the morning.  I quilted it late afternoon.  I love the backing fabric.

I used a grayed lavender thread which shows up a little on the darkest fabrics.

It also shows up a little on the lightest fabrics but on all of the rest I could hardly see it.  That made it hard to see where I had already quilted.  I used a large meander and 80/20 Hobbs batting.

This is the fabric brand of most of the fabrics.
I used the leftover backing fabric for the binding and finished it by machine.

The backing fabric is used in the front of the quilt too.

It finished at 59.5" x 77".  I will use it in my living room.  I just love the Australian fabric prints.

  1. Spectacular! Love that backing fabric too.....the grayed thread is a great blend. I know what you mean about hardly seeing the thread as you quilt it. But this turned out great!

  6. As I was looking at the first pictures I thought to myself that it would be so hard to make something using these gorgous fabrics and not keep it. So glad you are. Liked yesterdays post too showing your ready to finish quilts. Most of us have them!

  10. Since you were doing an allover meander, would it have made sence to quilt with the backing side up so you could see the thread?

  11. That was fast! The quilt turned out beautiful and I can see why you would want to keep this one!. I have some Australian fabric from that same company my brother bought me when he was touring in Australia with Bruce. I haven't used it yet, but I can see now I need to. So what's next?

  20. This quilt is definitely my favorite. I've collected Australian fabrics for many years (40+), as I used to live there. Bought lots when I was over for trips since, and purchased some here, so have quite a bit. This is a pattern I'd really enjoy using some of those fabrics for! Thank you for your blog - always enjoy it, quilting and gardening are my favorite things, too. Best wishes! Deb E / Oregon

  29. As you probably know I love Australian fabric too. This quilt is so beautiful. I have some of the fabrics in my stash. I am about to finish my fourth quilt using the Aboriginal fabrics from M & S. They are so nice to work with.
