I loaded the quilt on the longarm in the morning. I quilted it late afternoon. I love the backing fabric.
I used a grayed lavender thread which shows up a little on the darkest fabrics.
It also shows up a little on the lightest fabrics but on all of the rest I could hardly see it. That made it hard to see where I had already quilted. I used a large meander and 80/20 Hobbs batting.
This is the fabric brand of most of the fabrics.
I used the leftover backing fabric for the binding and finished it by machine.
The backing fabric is used in the front of the quilt too.
It finished at 59.5" x 77". I will use it in my living room. I just love the Australian fabric prints.
Spectacular! Love that backing fabric too.....the grayed thread is a great blend. I know what you mean about hardly seeing the thread as you quilt it. But this turned out great!
ReplyDeletewonderful, I love it! I'm a fan of Australian fabrics too and they look great in this style quilt.
ReplyDeletelooks wonderful and always love how the quilting blends into the background and lets the piecing/color take center stage
ReplyDeleteFabulous backing ....An amazing finish...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finish - it will look wonderful in your house!!
ReplyDeleteAs I was looking at the first pictures I thought to myself that it would be so hard to make something using these gorgous fabrics and not keep it. So glad you are. Liked yesterdays post too showing your ready to finish quilts. Most of us have them!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful quilt, love that backing.
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous quilt, Wanda! You are so talented in the way you use color, pattern and value. I love the fabrics, too.
ReplyDeleteI love how nicely the fabrics add movement and sparkle to the quilt. The finish is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteSince you were doing an allover meander, would it have made sence to quilt with the backing side up so you could see the thread?
ReplyDeleteThat was fast! The quilt turned out beautiful and I can see why you would want to keep this one!. I have some Australian fabric from that same company my brother bought me when he was touring in Australia with Bruce. I haven't used it yet, but I can see now I need to. So what's next?
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed you finished this so quickly. It's beautiful, and the backing fabric is perfect. I imagine your'll enjoy living with this one in the room.

Oh Wanda!! I've been following you for a couple of years and I believe this is my favorite quilt of all that I've seen..absolutely stunning!! By the way, I've saved some of your colorwash quilts on my pinterest board. Every single day at least 2 or 3 people saved them too from my board...gotta be close to 1,000 by now. You are SUPER popular!! You are the best and thank you soo much for sharing with the rest of us!
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is definitely my favorite. I've collected Australian fabrics for many years (40+), as I used to live there. Bought lots when I was over for trips since, and purchased some here, so have quite a bit. This is a pattern I'd really enjoy using some of those fabrics for! Thank you for your blog - always enjoy it, quilting and gardening are my favorite things, too. Best wishes! Deb E / Oregon
