Choosing a center.......

There are 24 fabrics in this Trip Around the World so I needed to unpick 24 loops to be able to decide what will be the center.  In this photo it would be the lavender.

I can move the strips from the left edge to the right edge and see every fabric as the center.  Look at the bottom right corner above as it changes by one square in each photo.
Since I had predetermined that I want all 4 of the same color as a center I just took photos of a set of 4 strips moved to the right until I had seen every color as the center.
This last photo shows the last color as the center.  I think my two favorites are the lavender and the yellow as centers.

  1. Enjoying the unabashedly spring colors of this project. Must be nice to work with while you watch the season unfold in your garden. I studied the large photos and I like your two choices for center the best too, though the yellow halo around the lavender center is very appealing.

  2. Looks like a whole lot of focused work to move all those strips around and not end up jumbled. Looks difficult to me.

  3. My choice would be the lavender, but I don't think any of them would be "the wrong one."

  6. I seem to like the lavender best too, even though I always prefer yellow over lavender. This is going to be a really pretty quilt when finished and perfect for our spring that is slowly arriving. (Furnace still blazing away here).

  7. Good morning Wanda.....The only reason I would choose the yellow is because it appears to be the brightest color and is most often the center of Mother Nature's flowers. Although I am not partial to vintage fabrics, this is going to be a very pretty quilt and am looking forward to seeing it when it is all sewn together.

  8. I like the yellow because when I look at all your photos my eye always seems to go to the brightest, lightest color. Yellow for me!!! This is going to be a beautiful quilt when finished. Love all the colors as it reminds me of one that my Mom made many years ago. In those days they didn't sew the strips in rows and each piece was individually cut and all were sewn together by hand. It is great now to be able to do it with our sewing machines.

  9. I vote for yellow.
These are such un-Wanda prints, though! I just associate you with batiks and Kaffe-rich prints.

  10. I like the yellow one, only because you get the lavender right around that as a bonus. Great idea to look at your colors this way.

  11. I just read all the comments and went back to read your analysis and did not see where you asked for a vote. (*._.*) What ever you choose for the center will be the best. I am enjoying watching this one grow. It is pastel heaven.

  13. Looking beautiful and whatever you choose will be just great. You did not ask, but I'll cast my vote for lavender center with the yellow halo just outside of it! :)

  14. Between the 2 choices, I would choose lavender. I wouldn't mind a tiny bit of pink in the center either, because then you would get the lavender and yellow just outside of that. There's something so soothing about the 30's prints. Having said that, I don't have any. :)
