I made this quilt top in 2010 and have been trying to figure out a pieced border to go between 2 light colored batik borders. When my friend got here we played around with a few ideas and this was the favorite. Here is a post where I tried another idea. I have a lot more triangle squares to sew.
Before my friend left we put the Seed Packet squares back up on a design wall. I have lots of cutting to do for the 2 rows of small squares that border this. I can see a couple squares I want to move too.
Here is my weekly report on the wax coated Amaryllis bulb. It has gotten a little taller than I thought it would be.
It is getting ready to bloom and it looks like it will be red.
I like this border idea better than the one from 5 years ago. I think this top has sufficiently mellowed that it wants to be finished now.
ReplyDeleteA playful, eye catching border!
ReplyDeleteI like your border also. Sometimes the best ones take the most time to make. Wanda, Have a Merry Christmas. Chris
ReplyDeleteThe triangle quilt is stunning. I like the seed packet one too.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a merry Christmas.
I love this quilt. It inspired me to do one in teals and blues, just much smaller. Anyway, I like the new ideas for a border a lot, it is more playful and just seems to dance around. Yes, it is the one!
ReplyDeleteLove the triangle border. It will look terrific- very dynamic. The seed packet quilt is just so stunning. Reminds of the pop art of the 60s, but better. What a collection of florals- great for such a gray day here.
ReplyDeleteHI Wanda. The amaryllis is so cool!
ReplyDeleteI like your small triangle border. To my eye, it fades into the light borders. I wonder if the half square triangles would stand out more if they were all medium to dark in value. Just a thought.
Wishing you a blessed Christmas and a joy-filled 2017.
I clicked back and looked at the other border. I like the four blue triangles, four orange triangles, four purple triangles.
ReplyDeleteI like that border you are trying out I think it really looks good - I remember that quilt and love it now as I did then - Merry Christmas to you
ReplyDeleteI like your newest border best too. Your bloom on that plant looks as if it will be huge.
ReplyDeleteI like the HST border. It is subtle, but makes a great impact. The amaryllis is looking great. Won't be long now.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea for the triangle quilt border. I hadn't seen the quilt before . The border is wonderfully inspirational. How do you keep the amaryllis from falling over? Looks like magic.
ReplyDeleteI really like that border idea. It ties in with the field blocks perfectly.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great border idea, Wanda. Your amaryllis is so intriguing - I can't believe that it doesn't need watering.
ReplyDeleteI love the border setting you've decided on, the HST middle border fits in perfectly. Looks like the Seed Packet may soon be a finish too. Exactly how tall is that Amaryllis stem?
ReplyDeleteLove that HST border, Wanda....looking forward to seeing it all done....you will have all those HST blocks done in no time at all....
ReplyDeleteI hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas!!

Gorgeous quilt - I especially liked the border where the colors were a bit darker, in the medium to dark range....how beautiful it will be, all finished!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you!
