An old favorite............

I didn't take any photos yesterday so I went back in the archives from 2007, the year I started my blog to show one of my favorites.  This is a medallion quilt but you have to look closely to see the rounds.  The center is triangles, then a row of squares, next squares alternated with pinwheels, then squares, next is triangles and then squares as the last pieced round.
Here is the post in 2007 with the drawing I worked from and an explanation about the quilt.  My daughter owns this quilt now.

  8. Oh thanks for pulling out this quilt! It looks very contemporary, not at all dated, which is quite remarkable. You are indeed a visionary! Most of the time, when I look at people's quilts from 10 years ago, they look distinctly "old." Dated fabric and patterns. But this quilt looks like one anybody would be proud to have made today! Indeed, the use of the gray border fabric and some gray in the quilt itself is reminiscent of the current popularity of "neutral" fabrics. It has a great effect, gives it a look of transparency.

  9. Oh I like this one!! Lovely border fabrics sets off all the coloured pieces in the centre, and you're right it does need to be closely looked at to see the rounds in there.
