2 more farm girl blocks.........

My 2 quilting friends came over yesterday and I decided I would work on some more of the Farm Girl Quilt blocks.  I made the 2 cherry blocks in the top center......3 hours.
I think I need to make the big tractor block next and some of the flower blocks.

Then I cut the leaf parts of a stem and leaf block and made enough for 5 blocks or maybe I will double stack two of these for a taller stem since they will be sunflowers......another hour.

Then in one hour last night I made all of these blocks.  You can probably guess which ones I enjoyed the most.  I really dislike all of those connector corner squares sewn on almost every part of the Farm Girl blocks.  They are so fiddly to do it right and it takes forever to cut all of the little pieces for each block out of several different fabrics.  As much as I like the quilt I don't have the patience to spend hours on one 6" block.

  2. I am a very impatient person, yet I enjoy making those fiddly blocks, weird isn't it?

  3. The Farm Girl blocks are beautiful, but at a very high time cost. The batik blocks are like little jewels and change according to what is around them. I have patience, but don't want to spend the time I have on the blocks that chew through time for so little real estate made. Love the batik blocks!!

  6. I had forgotten you were making that farm girl quilt - it just doesn't seem to be "you" love the second one you show. My daughter likes the farm girl quilt - in away I like it but yet I don't think enough to get the book and make it.

  9. Holy cow, that's a lot of time for a couple of cherry blocks, etc.! I'm with you, Wanda. Have you considered making a smaller version of the farm quilt, and not making all of the blocks? Just a thought. Your blocks are very cute - I looked up the quilt online and your blocks are more vibrant than most - no surprise, I guess! :) Enjoy this lovely weather!

  14. That's exactly how I feel about the Splendid Sampler that I'm doing. I spend hours, sometimes days working on one 6" block to get it right. I won't make that mistake again. The blocks are so cute though when they are done. I guess it's like childbirth pains. You tend to forget how difficult it was when it's over. I think I could forget childbirth pains faster & easier though. :)
