Success!.............
I am much happier with this quilt top with the extra rows added on. It is now 66" x 88". In the last few days I had to search through my Kaffe fabrics for 37 more pieces of fabric, press the fold marks out, cut a strip off each, cut a square off each strip and cut that in half diagonally for the 37 triangles I needed. Now I have that huge pile of fabric to put away. This is what makes my quilts unique. There are 384 different Kaffe Fassett fabrics in this top. I had one duplicate piece which I took out. Now I have one more decision; do I want to put a border on it and make it twin size rather than leaving it as a large couch quilt? I know some people would consider this twin size now but I like the quilts to come down far enough to cover the metal frame and also cover the pillows.
incredible
ReplyDeleteindeed i looked and wonderd where the difference is between great quilts and yours
all different blocks with so much feeling for color
why is
diagonal cutting
also important
wow wow wow
Such a beauty with all those fabrics. You have that magic touch with all those colors. I like this size.
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous! I love how at first glance it looks like a checkerboard on point, but when you look at it again you can see that each of the diamonds are made up of four fabrics.
ReplyDeleteOh, this is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI think it is perfect "as is," without any borders: the light outer half triangles let the eye move OUT from the center. But in late April you showed us a small black/red piece and wanted opinions on how to position it. I enjoyed the differing opinions, and even altered mine a bit as a result of the vote. So, I think you should show us the piece again, with at least two possible borders, and let us share our thoughts. In addition to the fun of the exchange, I learn something about quilting.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt Wanda, as usual. I think it's perfect as is, but if you plan on selling it, it's possible the buyer would have the option of using it either way, with the border added. Enjoy this cool, but sunny day.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful, I love this quilt.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt so far. I'm amazed it has 384 different Kaffe fabrics in it, which means you must have others in your stash, waiting to be used. Wonderful :)
ReplyDeleteYou have done it again. BEautiful. All those fabrics. Incredible. Love it. I opt for no border.
ReplyDeleteWow! It's Beautiful, Wanda!
ReplyDeleteLove it, with the changes super duper!!! and I always like your borders, you choose fabrics and use wonderful selections so they do not dominate but compliment the quilt.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Well worth all the effort.
ReplyDeleteOnly you could use 384 different fabrics in this piece ! Absolutely stunning.

This is gorgeous. No fabric duplicated?! Holy guacamole!
ReplyDeleteI think a border would add to it.
Thanks for sharing!
That is A LOT of Kaffe fabrics!!! It looks wonderful now, but would be great as a bed covering too.
ReplyDeleteJust love the deep sparkle. A masterful mixture. Border or not, I am sure you can make one if you want.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely amazing quilt!! I just love it!! I am of the belief that you can't have too many different fabrics in a quilt, so your quilts really speak to me!! I am not sure that I have ever had that many fabrics in one of my quilts....I need to work on that....the more, the better!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for inspiring us!

Kaffe Fasset fabrics - the more, the merrier! This quilt proves it!!
ReplyDeleteThat really is awesome! Showed my husband who agreed it is indeed lovely.
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is Wow! Love it!
ReplyDeletePure perfection! I can't imagine that you can improve on it with a border, but it wouldn't be the first time you surprise me. I'm standing by to see what happens!
ReplyDeleteI really like this top! Did you decide to add a border? I'm surprised I like it without one but I do agree, the top should be larger to be used best.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the size - our mattress is 16" deep, so I'm sure that would take quite a bit more than most "Queen" size patterns. That's a nice looking quilt top you've made there.
