I was looking for a certain fabric on my brown/rust/gold shelves and I noticed some of the piles were messed up. I decided to go through and re-stack them. The big print is one of my very favorites. I decided that while straightening I would pull some fabrics that coordinated with it.
Then I came across another favorite. The turquoise version of this was the Hoffman challenge fabric back in the late 1980s. It is really a rust, not red as it looks here. I pulled a few fabrics to go with it too. Now I MUST use these fabrics and not leave them for my estate sale.
I dug out weeds and volunteer trees, dug up the hosta I showed a couple days ago with all of the other plants smothering it out. I cleaned up the area around it and replanted it. I also transplanted 2 purple coneflowers and a Pulmonaria. I dug up the Tiger lilies that were growing right next to my sidewalk and I need to either plant them in pots or back in the ground today.
That's the trouble with cleaning/straightening -- the creative juices start flowing just from handling a favorite piece of fabric. And before you know it, the cutting table is covered again. Ain't it fun!
The photos show the large prints and the fabrics that go with it, right? What a great idea! I am definitely going to use that next time I pull out a big print (or buy one). Was sunny yesterday and I could have gardened, but I had a disabling migraine and every joint ached. My tulips are at peak- forced myself to photograph them. Will try to get them off the camera today.
I love the movement in the favorite fabric in the first pic. LOVE the one to the left of that with the fancy writing on it. The rest all blend in so well. Gonna be a very pretty project! It's gorgeous out "right now" and am hoping to get some leaves attended to today. We put the porch swing back up so I have a place to rest during yardwork stints. My tulips look so pretty out front and my yellow magnolia out back is doing its thing. I noticed on Sun. that our catbird had returned. He's a joyous fellow. While working on the deck yesterday Zippy the chipmunk kept me company. Love this time of year for all the "wild" activity in the yard....the only thing that's not on my top 10 is the mud (dogs).
Love that you're working on using some favorites instead of leaving them for someone else. They might not appreciate them as much. I could work on this, use the fabric you love!
I need to get in the yard and do some work in the flower beds. I bought seeds for coneflowers and need to dig up some of my Lenten roses for a fellow at work. The fabrics are fabulous.

What is the name of the text fabric in your top photo? I am acquiring different text materials for a project I want to design and start and I like the look of the one in your pic.

ReplyDeleteThat is an interesting way of looking at it. I have several fabrics I need to use too, because I don't want them wasted or sold at my estate sale.
