Miscellany...............

My straight stitch machine has new lighting, a Mother's Day present.  I had to take the photo in semi darkness or the lights didn't show up.  They are little LED lights on a sticky backed strip.

For anyone who wants the technical info here is the instruction sheet.

I had 2.5 hours of TV watching last night so I sewed some of the star blocks with the 2" finished triangle squares.  I'll keep making them until I get tired of them and then decide what I am going to do with them.

I picked my first bouquet of peonies yesterday afternoon.  I always keep the bouquet in the garage overnight to be sure the ants are all out of them.  We had rain storms come through in the late afternoon and my rain gauge had 1.75" in it.

  1. I've tried different light solutions, but there always seemed to be something not quite right. Would love to know how you like the amount of light.

    Beautiful squares and peonies!

  3. The star blocks are wonderful. Can't wait to get my dies and machine to cut some HSTs from my batik scraps. Wish we would have had rain as it is bone dry in Buffalo. My tree peonies are open. I don't cut those. Herbaceous peonies not blooming yet.

  6. I tried these lights, all excited to have great lighting on the machine surface...but...they kept coming loose and drooping down onto the machine bed. I finally took them off. :o( I have the magnetic goose neck LED on my longarm, and it is great. Can't have it on the domestic because its housing is plastic. Good luck with yours. I hope they stick better than mine did.

  7. I agree you need to give us a review on the lights after a few weeks of using them. The "older eyes" among us can use all the good lighting we can get.

  9. Love your star blocks, knew you could do something great with them ! I am interested in your lights too. The other day I was sewing on my little Featherweight and picked it up, touching the light bulb. I got a terrible burn on my fingertips that ached for hours. I really need an LED light that won't burn me.

  10. Ive had these lights on my machine for a little over two years now and i LOVE LOVE VE them. Have not had ANY issues with them becoming unstuck...they sticke GREAT, but i did clean my machine to,be sure it was free of oil and such first...these lights rock the house down! And dirt cheap! Buy the extra connector as the order supplies enoug ligts to do two machines easily.

  15. 3 great topics today so here goes; I read up on those lights last year as they would be perfect for me, but from what I can remember they are not suitable for the UK - something to do with the transformer or the plug I think. I'm loving those batik star blocks - they look intricate but it's amazing what hst's can do. And lastly, I can almost smell the scent of those flowers and that pink peony looks 'fit to burst' as I think you might say? .... beautiful :)
