I sewed the last seams on this quilt top on May 20 in 2010. It ended up 66" x 77". I didn't like the proportion and always intended to add another double row to it. Since I'm in a period of indecision I decided it would be a good project to work on. I have cut a few triangles and put them on the design wall next to the top and will work on it some more today. I see I have one duplicate fabric in there so I need to change that.
Last fall I brought in my 8 Amaryllis bulbs and put them in boxes with lids in the garage. They are supposed to be in cool and dark about 8 weeks and then should produce a bud. I checked them at 8 weeks, 3 months, 4 months, and nothing was happening. This week I took off the lid and one has sent up a stalk with 4 buds. The other 7 are just sending up leaves. I guess I will fertilize them this summer and give them one more chance.
The play of the colors in the quilt are very soothing and happy. Can't wait to see what you will do with it. I just love how you have so many ideas going on and percolating.
ReplyDeleteThat's a beauty, Wanda. A nice way to show off all those Kaffe Fasset fabrics.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fabrics and a great design. Loved looking at your blooms. Just starting here in Ontario.
ReplyDeletePlants are amazing - you think they are dead and then they surprise you - it's worth holding onto, to see what emerges this summer. I've finally cleared out my rubbish, did a little pruning on the fuchsia's as too late to cut right back and all the clematis have buds on them - some are starting to open and I can see the large 4" ones will soon be open. I'll take some photo's of course. It's cooler here today so I will enjoy the outside more now - have a lovely weekend and hope the weather's kind to you :)
ReplyDeleteLast year I planted my amaryllis bulbs in a deep row in the garden with black compost on the bottom, covered them and mulched them good. Dug them up and let the leaves dry and then potted them in individual pots wit a mix of half potting soil and half black compost I get at out city's recycling place, and have over 10 that have bloomed since Jan. I bring some out each month to have color until the spring flowers start. Some send up two flower stems. Fun and beautiful. I get a new one from a son for Christmas every year.

ReplyDeleteI love the top photo, where are the duplicates? and Amaryllis, one of the most amazing stunning flowers.
ReplyDeleteMost of mine didn't bloom over the winter either. Most years they send up two stalks. Hoping I get some summer blooms for the delay!
