Binding......again.......

I went to the International Quilt Festival in Chicago (Rosemont) yesterday.  I ordered the part for my longarm frame that I needed.  One of the rails that the wheels ride on had peeled and split and I've struggled with it the last 3 years.  Now I will have a smooth riding machine again.  We stopped at an IKEA on the way home since I had never been to one.  That was a lot of walking for one day.  When I got home I sewed the binding on the Marcia Derse fabric quilt and started the hand sewing. I have one long side done plus a little way down the next side.

  1. Holy cow, how did you do that in one day? When I get a chance to go to Ikea, I take a whole day, eating lunch there. A quilt show too? You really are Wonder Woman!

  3. I was supposed to go to Rosemont.... but decided that Rosemont and Paducah in the same month was just too much! I would have made a stop at Ikea too. Glad you got the LA problem fixed too. Guess it wasn't too spendy.... for the fix.

  4. Good for you for doing all that in one day! The new IKEA store is under construction - currently the area is a sea of construction vehicles with the building's skeleton rising in the midst of it all. Love that you had binding to round out your day.

  5. Last year when I visited my Wisconsin daughter we drove to Chicago one day and on our way out we stopped at an IKEA also, I had never been to one - huge! we didn't look as much as we would have if alone, we had the kids with and a teenage boy doesn't exactly like looking as much as we did - he ended up sitting on a couch waiting for us and said he was "trying it out"

  6. We got an Ikea store in St. Louis last year and it's lovely. I didn't buy too much, didn't need it, but it was fun looking at all the stuff. Love your red binding, I put it on many of my quilts too, kind of perks them up. I know you like purple binding and am thinking of trying that too.

  7. IKEA sells fabric, but it is almost decorator weight. Too heavy for quilting. I did use it in a couch throw and now I see frequent washing has made it soft and cozy. (at daughter's home)
We have IKEA furniture in our home. It is just our style and have loved the store non stop. Some items were too cheap and didn't last but the big things are still serving.
Our 2 grown children work for IKEA and I must say they are an A1 employer.

  8. Aren't those IKEA stores amazing? I went for the first time last year. WOW!

Do you have the Pinnacle frame? I replaced my rails with a 1/4 steel rod and they are cheap and incredible.

  10. I've been away for 5 days visiting family and didn't get onto the net, so missed seeing all the wonderful work you have done this week. Loving the finished medallion quilt and loved the idea behind the cake reveal :)
