I looked through all of my batiks for one a little lighter color than the backing but with the same flavor in the print and couldn't find anything. I decided to go ahead and bind the quilt with the same fabric all around. I have two sides finished by hand so far. I want to finish this today for my personal goal of finishing three things in the first 7 days of January.
I need to pull fabrics for two quilts so I spent some time with my stash and decided on Marcia Derse fabrics for the first one. Marcia has a nice website with photos of her lines from several years. I got the fabrics all pressed and ready for cutting today. I wish I had purchased some of her early prints which had circular designs.
Marcia Derse is a new designer to me--very earthy, beautiful fabric. I went looking on Etsy and there was at least one shop (meanderingthread) that carried a lot of her fabrics if you want more. I know I'm tempted!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of her but will check her etsy shop out to see her fabrics better. No buying!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great accomplishment for the first week in January.
ReplyDeleteThose Marcia Derse fabrics are really lovely. I can't wait to see what you do with them.
Marcia's fabrics are so unique. You have a very nice collection of them!
ReplyDeleteI love Marcia Derse fabrics! I have a small collection that I would love to add to. Her style is distinctive enough that I find it a challenge to add other fabrics to the design. I did not know the wide variety of designs still available till I went looking on Etsy.. SUCH TEMPTATION! Can't wait to see what you do with it.
ReplyDeleteI bought a charm pack of Mosaic from Missouri Star and used it in a comfort quilt. The only problem I had with the fabric is it has a grayed down value to it and is not a bright as I would like. I liked the circle fabric she did earlier. I still have a small piece. It is a much brighter hue.
