The hand stitching on the binding was finished last night. I really like this quilt. There were 4 different blocks for the Fractured quilt in the book but I only used two of them and did an off center layout.
I love my backing fabric.
I have mentioned several times about cutting volunteer trees in my back yard. This is the same spot 2 weeks apart. Those are the suckers that grow up around a tree stump where a live tree was cut down. There were as many as 30 on one of the stumps (neighbor's trees) and a lot of them leaned into my yard. They were anywhere from 5 to 10' tall. I cut all of the ones on my side of the stumps. This photo just shows where 2 of the stumps are. I cut many more to the left and right of the area in these photos. I have 2 piles for brush pick up this week.
your fractured quilt is a great study in the use of mixing neutrals. They all play well together and blend into the background while still giving interest to the quilt.
The fractured quilt must have taken a lot of design wall work. It looks very complicated. The colors just leap around. Good clearing out of garden invaders. All the rain this year have made all the unwanted things grow. Lots of weeding this year.
Wanda, did your eyes go all wonky while piecing this quilt together? I know mine would have, but it is beautiful, nonetheless. Lot line invaders can pose a problem, as we all know, and test our patience, but you seem to have handled it well, until the next time! Hope your day is a good one and we get the promised rain, since the grass isn't as green as it used to be. lv2bquilting2@comcast.net

I think I'd like to try this pattern with all batiks, in the earth toned colors, beiges and the like for the lights, and organic browns blacks and deep greens for the darks. It's for a man on my make-a-quilt-for to-do list; I made him a mug rug in those fabrics and he loved it. Lots of work cutting down all of those trees!
There is a substance you can pour into a stump to discourage the new growth. Sorry I don't know what it is, but ask at your garden store, or big hardware place... or on the internet. We had a guy come in with a specialty machine to grind out the stump and near in roots. Quite expensive, but we have not had one volunteer since. (It is gone for 10 years or so.) Hope this helps you out. Hugs
I have just cut all the pieces like the quilt. I am doing mine in pink and white. The design will be a heart and I have enough for 2 quilts. One will be donated for breast cancer awareness fundraiser. Can't wait to get started after seeing your finished...love all the colour
I love all your quilts but this one makes me think of what a migraine feels or looks like. I also get migraines. I plant hosts in my tree stumps and they are gone in a couple of years with no volunteers.
