Isn't this the most wonderful block? I must say it is my favorite one so far. I still haven't decided on the center circle fabric.
I put all of the blocks up on the design wall in no particular order.
I know I want to make at least one 9 block wallhanging and wondered what it would look like if it was all the lightest blocks.
Here are all of the dark blocks so far.
Several people asked what I meant yesterday when I said I had all of the Philip Jacobs fabrics in number order. Maybe this will explain it better. Westminster designers number all of their fabrics and add a few new prints to the line twice a year.
That is how I know that I have every Kaffe Fassett fabric except one. He is up above 100 now with his numbering.
I love the lighter color arrangement - I like the darker ones to - but I like the lighter ones better. Something about the light ones just catch my eye.
ReplyDeleteI like the mixed arrangement.... best... so take your favorites (or remake the favorites) and make the wall hanging....
ReplyDeleteLove the blocks, and I like both arrangements. I love Kaffe Fasset fabric....... I have a few in my stash - I think I need to make a point to get more! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about that top block - STUNNING!
ReplyDeleteOf the light/dark layouts, I prefer the light - but I also know you will make them both sing!
These blocks are fantastic. I'm getting that book this week!
ReplyDeleteI am catching up reading from the weekend. Let's start with the cute great grand baby! It was fun to read and see what the word cowboy meant to two different people! The Bear Trap quilt is wonderful as well as the spin blocks. You sure know how to put fabric together and make them sing!
ReplyDeleteI do love that block! I got the book just for that quilt, but there is lots of inspiration in it!
ReplyDeleteI like both light and dark spinner blocks. You have every Kaffe fabric but one. Oh my goodness. I think a friend of mine has every Amy Butler fabric. She too owned a shop.
ReplyDeleteI like all of them! Awesome to have so many KF fabrics : )
ReplyDeleteAnd you know why you like that one best, Wanda? All the blue in it. :) Looks great, really puts the spin in spinners!
ReplyDeleteThose blocks are just gorgeous! I had no idea that the fabrics were numbered like that.
ReplyDeleteAnother spectacular post today Wanda. Those spinners sure show off your amazing fabrics. It would be very difficult for me to pick a favorite.
ReplyDeleteYou are a true professional with all the knowledge you have and share with all of us. Who knew about the numbers on selvage edge, but you.
JJM
This is maybe a silly question Wanda, but can't help but wonder what do you do with the trimmings from the spinning blocks? ;)
ReplyDeleteawesome quilt!
Every time you post pictures of those Vintage Spiral blocks I am in awe! They are gorgeous. You pick the best fabrics.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty Spin Blocks. I like both the light and darks.
ReplyDeleteThat first block is spinning all by itself with just those two fabrics. Amazing!
ReplyDeleteYes I do love the one you have just posted, and I envy you your organisation with KF and PJ fabrics!
ReplyDeleteWOW, the blocks are lovely, Wanda!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the info on numbering, didn't know that.
Yes, that sure is a fabulous block!
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe you have all those Kaffe fabrics! My favorite quilt shop in Atlanta, and many of my friends in my Atlanta guild are also crazy about Kaffe.
In my opinion, they aren't just in love with his fabrics, they are a little bit like groupies, too! The last part is hard for me to understand, I think he's pretty arrogant, terribly self-centered, and fairly rude.
I do like lots of his fabrics, and there's no doubt they are beautiful and wonderfully colorful. But I actually think that there are way too many of them and find that I get completely overwhelmed by them when I try to shop in a store that carries all of them.
As a result, I often just skip them entirely, and move to other parts of the store which are less overwhelming for me. Therefore, the Kaffe prints I have were almost all bought on sale!
Also, I really don't like his shot cottons! The weave, I think, is way too loose - maybe a shot cotton is always like that? - I made the mistake of buying some once, but gave it all away because I just couldn't work with it and can't believe it still sells at the same high price as regular high quality quilt fabric.
That's my 5 cents - or more like a quarter!
I like the lights and the darks on the spin blocks. Thank you for the info on the numbering system of the fabrics. I did not realize they were in a sequence order. Darling great grandson you have.
ReplyDeletelove this spinning block, I will be interested to see what you use for the center circle...
