I finally finished sewing the log cabin top. I think I might piece the back out of some of the bigger pieces of plaids and stripes. This fabric is very lightweight so I think a lightweight backing would be nice too.
It was above freezing all day yesterday but we still have snow. Today is supposed to be around 40 so a lot more should melt.
Love that quilt! Our snow is gone except where it was plowed up into large piles. All the small plowed piles are gone. The landscape changed overnight!
I love how the log cabin looks. I have not used that layout for any of my log cabins that I have made over the years so it looks very refreshing to me. it got up to 65 briefly yesterday - I wonder what today will bring.
I'm always amazed at how you can make such colorful (beautiful) quilts out of such divergent fabrics. Plaids on day, Kaffe the next. It is so wonderful to follow your work!
It is stunning -- congratulations on a great finish. We have had very mild temperatures too and there is next to snow left. But the cooler temps are coming back for us tomorrow.
I decided to make my very first quilt - which was a log cabin quilt - because I fell in love with some log cabin quilts I saw at a craft show I Kentucky, while visiting my in-laws here from Atlanta where we lived at the time. And I've always loved log cabin quilts. But this may be the most striking one I've ever seen. You may have said before, but how wide are the individual strips? Just wonderful work!
Oh Wanda - your work is ALWAYS beautiful and for me, overwhelming in beauty. I wish I could make uhhh copy each and every one of your projects! I looked back at your TATW, a beauty then and now. Thank YOU for all the inspiration and eye candy you give us. 8-)))

It's really cool! If you want it to remain lightweight you could use a flannel sheet as batting.
