I decided I will make 8 more blocks so while I was in the basement cutting more strips I changed the layout to a larger zig zag. I will probably change it again when I get all of the blocks up on the wall. I don't like the top row the way it is.
My second Amaryllis is blooming. This one has lots of petals. There will only be two flowers on this one instead of the usual four.
love the blocks - we have woke up to ice again and hopefully it will all melt today as the temps warm up but I guess that means I will be spending the morning in the sewing room
Like the idea of 8 more blocks. Hope it was not too cold cutting in the basement. I think it is still real cold where you live. Supposed to be up to 18 today here.
From humble fabrics, a grand quilt is born. Still amazes me that the color from afar is what makes the design. It doesn't matter if you use batiks/kaffe's/ or plaids--they turn out wonderful.
One of the things that's so amazing about log cabin quilts is that you can completely change the quilt by rearranging the blocks - especially when you have such nice stark value contrast as you have here. Makes it kind of hard to choose a final lay-out, doesn't it? Can't wait to see what you end up with!
The flowers are beautiful. I have never raised one before. The quilt will be great when you get the layout the way you want it. Chris
ReplyDeleteI am absolutely agog over your log cabin quilt. It is stunning perfection. What are your plans for it? It might have to come live at my house.
ReplyDeleteThere is such a crisp contrast beyond light an dark. I like that.
