I had an odd assortment of boxes, plastic drawer units, etc. in my studio so I decided to get a better organization system. I put two of these together yesterday. They will fit under the cutting table extensions. The storage boxes that are about 14" square fit perfectly on the shelves but I think a lot of my other containers will fit well too. I will pick up a couple more of the square containers when I see them on sale.
I never did get to the sewing machine yesterday. I did laundry and some cutting but that is it. The assembly on those shelf organizers took almost three hours for two of them. Of course the second one went together much faster than the first one.
That is a neat shelf. Wish I had the space for a couple of them. Maybe you can sew today. Chris
ReplyDeleteAre they IKEA?
ReplyDeleteI completely understand. Those ready to assemble things take a lot more time than you ever plan for!
ReplyDeleteI've been looking for something similar, but this one looks like it might be a bit too tall for my needs. Does it come it other heights?
ReplyDeleteNice organizers. I have a mismash of plastic boxes that hold all my fabric. Not too pretty but it works for now.
ReplyDeleteI love the square clear scrapbook paper boxes for my various projects - I have one rolling cart that stacks like your white unit. The other boxes simply stack on top of themselves on the open bookshelf units. Either way, the square flat boxes help me keep myself organized (notes and sketches go in the respective project boxes along with fabrics and pieces/parts).
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your new system!
Oh, golly, Wanda, this appears to be EXACTLY what I've been looking for! Please, could you post where you got it? Many thanks.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get those? Perfect. Thanks Mary Ann
ReplyDeleteI have a bunch of those project boxes. Where did you get the shelve?
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, please advise where you got the nifty shelves! I am repurposing my family room to be Sewing Room North and a couple of those would come in very handy!
ReplyDeleteNice storage unit and to find boxes that fit into them perfectly is wonderful! It always feels good to get stuff in order.
ReplyDeleteOh yah ~ me too where did you find that shelf unit ? As if we can all run to town and find one at the same store you bought yours. (*._,*) And it looks like it is on rollers too.
ReplyDeleteI have color like stacks in crates under my cutting table on rolling units and this would be so much better.
The cold front has rolled in and the weather kids hit right this time.

It is so nice to be able to avoid stacking units on top of each other for easy access - lucky you! And on wheels - even better.
ReplyDeleteAn additional hint: I put a label or picture on the front of the box.
ReplyDeleteSuper idea Wanda, and with a cutting table at that extra height, they will fit under so well, Clever girl to do all the assembly too. Cheers from Jean
ReplyDeleteSome time ago you said it was hard on your feet to stand on the concrete in your basement. I use 24" rubber mats that easily link together like jigsaw puzzle pieces. I found these at Big Lots in my area.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you were not sewing for a day! You are the most prolific quilter (and blogger) I know.
Congratulations to you for taking the plunge of effort and expense to organize. There is not much worse than sorting through piles looking for something or not knowing where something is buries. Saps all the creative momentum out.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a fabulous storage cabinet! Having each box on their own shelf makes it so convenient!
ReplyDeleteI too would like to know where you found these units?
ReplyDeleteLinda, You are a no reply blogger because your email address is not enabled. I can't reply to you
ReplyDeleteTHat is a cool cabinet!
ReplyDeleteI was also hoping you'd let us know where you bought the cabinets! They look great!
ReplyDeleteNancy from PugMom Quilts!
ohhh - I like the cabinet too, hope you will post where you got it/what brand!
ReplyDeleteLove your shelves, someone asked if they are IKEA and I was wondering myself. Looks like a perfect storage solution. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI use the 14" square project boxes for my kiddos craft supplies. I would love to know where you got the shelf unit to hold them. Thanks!
