A birthday treat to myself, a neat multicolor zebra batik for a backing and it was on sale.
I couldn't resist some of the new Kaffe Fassett stripe fabrics. Most of my other Kaffe stripes tend to be blue and rose variations so this will add some neat variety.
I just have a few strips left to sew on the last 8 blocks of the quarter log cabins and then I can complete the layout. Today I must start cleaning the basement for my art quilters group that is coming on Monday. It is mostly tabletop cleaning and putting away stuff.
Oh I love that zebra batik!!! and the striped cottons are nice too.
ReplyDeleteLove all your gorgeous new additions to your stash!
ReplyDeleteGreat choices. Is the zebra batik one of the major brands or is it what I call a "mystery" batik. One of the stores I occasionally shop at has batiks that aren't marked so I call them mystery batiks. The good news is that I have not had any trouble with the color or the quality of them.
ReplyDeleteYup, I have the same question as Gene. I have some very bright rainbow zebra batik that looks like yours. It was a name brand and cost me dearly, but I can't remember the maker. I like yours so much I would have a hard time putting it on the back of a quilt. So lively!
ReplyDelete:) I can see that zebra print being a fave find for you
ReplyDeleteGreat enhancements! I am going to get some of the Kaffe stripes too. When you are finished cleaning, could you come clean my sewing area too? I have a friend coming over Monday to sew!
ReplyDeleteThat zebra batik is fabulous, as are the stripes! Great stash additions.
ReplyDeleteThe batik is so you. Hey, Happy Birthday!!!
ReplyDelete"Happy Birthday"
ReplyDeleteI have not seen that batik, and I shop batiks all the time. It is great and what a great birthday gift to you. November is the bestest birthday month ever!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great collection of fabrics ! You always show us such awesome pieces. I can just see you smiling when you found your zebra piece.
ReplyDeleteJJM
Fun, fun, fun!! (not so much the cleaning up part)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, bd sister. My year was 1937 so I'm sure you're a looottt younger, everyone is.
ReplyDeleteI was born in your neighboring state of Wis. Enjoy your blog. Thanx
That batik is awesome!
ReplyDeleteAh, stash enhancement - one of my favorite things. I'm glad you don't resist either!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! You KNOW I love that zebra fabric! I almost never buy fabric for the back of my quilts, but try to piece them from what's left over from making the top, or I pull something else from my stash - some times a large piece or two that I have, but more often several pieces that I piece to make up the back. I guess you could say I'm too cheap to buy yardage for the back! But I also do like the extra interest it adds to the quilt of having a pieced back.
