Stash enhancement..........

A birthday treat to myself, a neat multicolor zebra batik for a backing and it was on sale.
I couldn't resist some of the new Kaffe Fassett stripe fabrics.  Most of my other Kaffe stripes tend to be blue and rose  variations so this will add some neat variety.

I just have a few strips left to sew on the last 8 blocks of the quarter log cabins and then I can complete the layout.  Today I must start cleaning the basement for my art quilters group that is coming on Monday.  It is mostly tabletop cleaning and putting away stuff.

  3. Great choices. Is the zebra batik one of the major brands or is it what I call a "mystery" batik. One of the stores I occasionally shop at has batiks that aren't marked so I call them mystery batiks. The good news is that I have not had any trouble with the color or the quality of them.

  4. Yup, I have the same question as Gene. I have some very bright rainbow zebra batik that looks like yours. It was a name brand and cost me dearly, but I can't remember the maker. I like yours so much I would have a hard time putting it on the back of a quilt. So lively!

  14. Happy birthday! You KNOW I love that zebra fabric! I almost never buy fabric for the back of my quilts, but try to piece them from what's left over from making the top, or I pull something else from my stash - some times a large piece or two that I have, but more often several pieces that I piece to make up the back. I guess you could say I'm too cheap to buy yardage for the back! But I also do like the extra interest it adds to the quilt of having a pieced back.
