I started this quilt back on November 7 last year, the week before I had the surgical procedure on my eye. I finished making the blocks in January and then it waited for the sashing strips and corner squares. I finally got it all sewn together by mid-afternoon yesterday. In the morning I sewed the Buzz Saw blocks into a top but forgot to take a photo.
Last night I found a piece of fabric for the strip that is between the center of this quilt and the borders and sewed it together. I removed the paper from the borders while I watched TV last night. Now I have 3 flannel quilts ready to quilt. I have to make a road trip today so I hope I can choose some backings when I get home.
Last year in March we had 8 days in the 80s and many days over 60 degrees. This year we have only made it to the upper 40s. I'm glad it is a more normal late winter/early spring this year.
I'm envious of your accomplishemnts. So glad you aregetting things done. Suppose to be nice today, but more rain on the way. One good thing about it is we will have moisture for the trees and the yards this year. Chris
ReplyDeleteI really like your rattlesnake quilt - along with all your other quilts! The dark strip is just right as a division between the quilt and the border. It makes the border pop and gives the quilt a cohesiveness.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree with you about the weather. Here in RI it has been a bit warmer than average at about 50* - nice but not too warm too early. Enjoy your day and thanks for sharing your quilts.

I am assuming you are going to put a border on the star flannel quilt. I like the corner blocks and the stashing on it. The rattlesnake quilt is fabulous! Those spikey borders are perfect!
ReplyDeleteThat rattlesnake quilt is so wonderful! It all came together so well with the strip and border. It is not normally a pattern that would appeal to me, but just love your version.
ReplyDeleteHi Wanda,
ReplyDeleteEverything is looking good. You made a comment yesterday about getting lots of lint from the flannels; does that mean you have to clean your bobbin area more often? Or just lots of lint added to the room where you are working?
Hope you have good weather for your travels today. I agree, the normal winter seems good; I was sad when the cherry crops (among others) were ruined last year by the early very warm weather.

I'm with you: I love having our normal, freezing winter back!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that i did not care for the beginnings of the snake eyes quilt-but "the end is better than the beginning". I really like the end result very much.
ReplyDeleteI like the rattlesnake quilt more each time I see it. I'll bet the sewing area was a disaster with all of that paper tearing!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving all your pieces you've been working on. The Buzz Saw is great in the mixed plaids and your Rattler certianly is amazing. Great border choice on this one.
ReplyDeleteThey are both so pretty, but the rattlesnake one really grabs you, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteYou have been very productive lately! Love the look of these quilts. I may have to crank out a flannel quilt soon. I have two large bins of flannels at least to use up.
ReplyDeleteGotta love the stars.
ReplyDeleteEvery one of your flannel quilt tops are so color rich, that only you Wanda could design such beautiful pieces.
ReplyDeleteAnd just love the name " Buzz Saw" alias Rattle Snake. Absolutely perfect.

You are something else....love the rattlesnake. You are working overtime...sigh...please send me your energy!!
ReplyDeleteThose flannel quilts are shaping up. We have had a more normal winter here, too. They are telling us that we have seen the last freeze for the year. I will not believe it till after Easter. We always have a cold snap in Easter!

Just posted another project at http://yellowmoundquilt.blogspot.com/
Both marvelous quilts. Love the addition and placement of the crazy blocks in the rattle snake quilt.

ReplyDeleteI love the rattlesnake quilt.
ReplyDeleteI like the cooler weather but wish it was a bit warmer so that we could open the windows for fresh air. I look forward to days that are a bit warmer but not 80. Enjoy your Sunday.
