And then there were 5........

I cut 6 more flannel star blocks but only got 3 of them sewn.  I think I remember now why I stopped making 8 point stars.  They are boring to assemble!  I have 3 different background fabrics in there now.  I really wanted to use up the snowman print so it will be in more blocks.
The dark print here is purple and black.  I'm trying to find another purple flannel in my collection to add too.  There are purple and a rose color in the black flannel prints and I thought those colors would give the quilt a little life. I haven't found a rose color flannel yet that isn't just too pink to work.  I have to go back down to the boxes and look again.  I think I will have 12 blocks in the quilt so I have 4 more to cut.
Last night I sewed on bindings while I watched TV.  On this one I used the same black background print as the partial cross in the photo.
On the pastel wonky log cabin I chose a beige print.  It isn't one of the ones in the quilt but it looks nice on there.  I'll start the hand sewing on one of them today.

  1. The star blocks are pretty and I like the different backgrounds. I don't know how you do so much everyday! Right now I am so not in the mood to do anything.

  3. I just got a fat quarter bundle of flannels. I don't have a clue what type of quilt I want to make with them. Want to make a suggestion?

  5. I hate doing the binding....maybe because it is the last thing, maybe because I cannot wear a thimble...I just wish the Binding Fairy would appear and do it for me!

  6. Those stars are going to be gorgeous in the quilt. Yes, those 8 point stars can be challenging with the Y-seams.

  7. I love watching your binding choices...

I've made one flannel quilt (yellow brick road pattern and a fat quarter bundle - VERY early in my quilty-life).

I keep thinking about another one - they're so soft and warm!

  9. They may be boring to put together, but they sure are pretty! I like the bindings you've chosen, too.

  10. Boring or not -- that is going to be a fabulous quilt! They're fun stars to make by hand.

  11. It may be boring for you but so striking to look at. Just looking at the centers of those stars ... so meticulously perfect ! Who else but you could stitch those blocks in such a short time.

You always amaze me with you working on numerous pieces at once, I will look forward to the finish photos.

ps. time to take the screens off... 6" of new fluffy snow today and more predicted for tomorrow with single digit temps.
