Rain, painting, grouping fabrics........

I thought I might go out to the fair yesterday but it rained the night before and yesterday morning stopping at 9 a.m.  Since I would have to park in a grass field and walk to the entrance, I decided I wouldn't be happy walking around in soaking wet shoes so I stayed home.  I moved the roll top desk with the aid of the sliders.  The right end of the wall above is where it sits.  Then late in the day I decided to get a head start on my Sat.-Sun. painting and do the baseboard heaters on this 30' wall and about a 7 foot section of the next wall.  I'm using flat paint on the walls and this is satin finish on the woodwork and heaters.  That is a 14' stretch of picture window and 2 side windows.
After lunch I grouped some of the leftover triangles of the hand dyed fabric and made some 4 patches.  They will finish at 6" so I will cut some 6" finished triangles and make some 2 triangle blocks to go with them.  I might also put some plain 6" squares in with them too.  I won't know until I get to the design wall with them.
I chose some more groups of 4 for a time when I just want to sit and sew and not have to make any decisions.  I think there will be some of that time today as I finish an area of painting and just need to relax.  With 6 walls in the room there is a lot of furniture sitting in the middle of the space while I paint.  I'm hoping to get about half of it put back in place by tonight.

  1. Those "sliders" are just the best thing for those of us without bulging muscles! I received a set when I was living at my sister's house after moving to Pennsylvania. I actually think it was my brother-in-laws not so subtle hint that I needed to move! :)

  2. I envy you. I want to paint and I just can't convince myself I need to get it started. I guess the colors are the sticking point for me right now. Progress with the sewinf too looks like it is going well. Chris

  5. You are working hard, but smart. I like the way you have been planning your work out, a little at a time with the painting and even preparing your sewing work, and doing a little at a time. This is the best way to get a lot done! :)

  6. I love making quilts from the leftover blocks. It always brings the element of surprise.
With all this painting talk going on, you are making me want to take on that job I have been putting off for so long!

  7. Painting AND cutting--amazing energy you possess. I like those triangle color-groupings -- do you use a "GO" machine or rotary cut? I have a "Go Baby" and don't have the strip cutter yet--Have a great weekend Julierose

  9. You're a very neat painter, Wanda! I have drop cloths everywhere when I paint. I'm loving the purple, and you're doing a beautiful job - inspiring me as you do every day! Good job interspersing some sewing in there every day, too! :)

  11. Your paint must be 'odorless' ? And water base maybe? I am enjoying watching your progress... And to tackle a project that large makes my head spin. What a great feeling it will be to be all done and ready for your next friend or blogger friend to stop by. (*._,*)

I am really drawn to your ribbon strips.

  13. I hope everything went as planned today. Those sliders are the greatest things. Too bad I didn't think of those years ago when I struggled with furniture. We should have invented those. LOL

Good luck with all your projects. I loved this nice cool day.
