This photo shows a bit of all 3 walls that are done. I haven't started putting things back on shelves and all of the family photos are on the mantel right now until I make decisions. I'm not even sure what the furniture arrangement will be. I just needed everything back against that wall so I can move the things that are against the opposite wall. My couch and love seat are leather and were called purple when I bought them 17 years ago but they are more of a burgundy now, changing a little with age. The red chair has faded to a soft red. If it wasn't the most comfortable chair I own I might be tempted to get rid of it. It is a swivel rocker and just my size.
This is the leaning tower of blocks.......it was the best I could do after a day of painting. It was not a pretty sight seeing a 70 something lady try to walk after being on hands and knees for 15' painting the baseboard. I wasn't good for anything other than making some blocks for the rest of the day. There are 5 A's and 5 B's here.
I have 46 blocks made, 17 to go. I need to add another row at the top as well as filling in the bottom. I think I will take them all down when I get the last ones made and start over with the layout. They have just been put up as I made them and I'm not happy with it. I cut enough light triangles last night for 14 more blocks. I think I need some more red in there and maybe a little more bright yellow.
I'm far from a purple lover, but I really do like the look you achieved. Good job, Wanda! As for the zig zag blocks. You do need a lot more lights. There are a few blocks with very low contrast, that I have a feeling you are going to get rid of in your final set up. I've seen the zig zag as a 16 patch and then all the blocks are the same, no need for a and b blocks. Just wondering if you had considered that?
ReplyDeleteI really like your wall color! Will you hang any of your quilts in there? It would be lovely.
ReplyDeleteI'm quite amazed that you did all that painting yourself! And then you went and sewed blocks! I'm 57 and I couldn't have done it!
You painted all day and then sewed quilt blocks afterwards? I don't think I could have done that either! I'm hanging quilts for our quilt show all day today and I already have the Tylenol set out on the counter and the pizza delivery number by the phone and I'm pretty sure that I won't be sewing when I get home this afternoon! LOL
ReplyDeleteWanda, what energy you possess. Go girl!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the color and the chair... My grandmother used to have a red couch that would match it perfectly. Keep up the energy and send some my way.
Getting closer. Painting seems like a major job but when it is done it is well worth it. I need to do it to. Chris
ReplyDeletethe living room looks lovely-I'm inspired to think more about painting my bedroom ;) You are on a mission with those ZigZag blocks!
ReplyDeleteWands, you are an amazing lady, a real inspiration!
ReplyDeleteYour painting is looking really good and the quilt is beautiful. I love the color choices.
ReplyDeleteHappy to see that you had enough spunk left to stitch a few blocks after all that painting!
ReplyDeleteFreshly painted rooms hold such promise ... have fun deciding what to hang where!
Wanda, you just amaze me! I love the color of the walls. I doubt I would have gotten ANY sewing done after that and I have a few years to go before I am 70-something!
ReplyDeleteWell done on your painting, quite an achievement
ReplyDeleteYou did all of that painting and still had energy to make blocks? You're Wonder Women! After the painting I would have been done.
ReplyDeleteLove the color!
Yesterday, on a home dec show, I saw them using a fabric spray paint. They sprayed a headboard and a chair to completely change the color. Your red chair might be able to use something like that.
ReplyDeleteyou've been busy with hard work the last couple days - be proud you can at 70 something :)
ReplyDeletelove the quilt blocks
I love the colors!!! Looks just like my bedroom colors in the AZ house :-). And the blocks are great too. I really need to make some of those blocks. It is a pattern I have always liked.
ReplyDeleteYour walls are beautiful, Wanda. You are a Super Woman!
ReplyDeleteLove your quilt blocks.
The walls look awesome. Painting is a lot of work, especially the baseboard. Your blocks look great too.!
ReplyDeleteHi Wanda, Beautiful paint job! Love it!! jmh
ReplyDeleteHi Wanda, Beautiful paint job! Love it!! jmh
ReplyDeleteWhere do you get all your energy?! :) Your painted walls look great!
ReplyDeleteOuch....I am feeling that pain for you!!! Will it be worse today?
ReplyDeleteLove the zig zags.
Congrats, Wanda, you're almost done........with the painting AND another luscious quilt top.
ReplyDeleteGreat jobs, both !
Wanda, you're a marvel. After all that painting, I'd be able to push a needle for about 2 stitches. I'm painting windows and shutters now that the temperature has gone down a bit. OK, I get in a few more than 2 stitches in the evening...You're space looks very comfortable.
ReplyDeletebest, nadia
Love the walls. Wish I had half your energy!
ReplyDeleteI'm very impressed with the paint job! I've actually never painted a wall in my life, and I'm not proud of that. Way to go, and keeping up with your quilting, too.
ReplyDelete:-)
Looking good and you need to keep your favorite chair.
ReplyDeleteLove the blocks and I agee with you about adding more red and yellow. This is going to be wonderful!
Everything is looking very good there! You've really gotten a lot accomplished.
ReplyDeleteI love your "purple" walls. My living room and bedroom are painted a pale orchid. I love the color for walls because it's a warmer color than blue (and we can have verrrrrry cold winters here at 6200 feet). It's a color that feels warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
